Media Critics: "MSNBC Is Not a Left-Wing Fox News"

Leftists Fail to See Bias in Left-Leaning Media Outlets
Right winger fails to see the point. Can you point me to a rally-event that MSNBC promoted, sponsored and took part in?

MSNBC is passively Left Wing. FOX is actively right wing. That is the difference.

I liked Jon Stewart's comparison of MSNBC and Fox. It was something along the lines of 'MSNBC isn't a mirror of Fox. They wish they were, but haven't got there yet'. IIRC. It seems reasonably accurate. From the tidbits I've seen of MSNBC, they don't really attempt to create a pretense of impartiality. Of course, I'm bound to think they're correct a fair bit of the time, but I don't really think that means they aren't biased.

I would think there is a difference in malevolence, however. MSNBC simply attempts to present news from a leftist perspective. Fox attempts to twist events to suit its own agenda.

MSNBC News is far more accurate than Fox News "News" CNN is the most centrist of the news organizations, can you tell me what Anderson Cooper's slant is?

Slanted towards truth and making the ladies and ten percent of the guys swoon.

With MSNBC the opinion is obviously opinion, and I don't remember witch burning

Right-wing blowhard bashing perhaps, but that's how everyone besides right-wing blowhards feels about right-wing blowhards.

Fox has double the standards.

Excellent. I hope they caught it.

I'm not sure if you're serious, but that's sadly probably true.

Sure I'm serious. It does a decent job of covering non-Western countries, particularly the Middle East, Africa and the more neglected parts of Asia. I'd watch that over any of the American cable networks.

MSNBC needs to be more nasty. Fight fire with fire, etc.

That's the same problem as arguing with an idiot. You get dragged down to their level and get beat on experience.

Can't watch video where I am, what does he do exactly?

The first one he's having a spaz attack because "the Republican want you to DIE!!!!!!"

In the second he's attacking a caller over the Health Care Bill. He calls the man an Idiot and freaks out more.

I agree, but I will go further, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and NBC are passive liberal, which is why Fox needs to be actively conservative.

Where Liberals detect a liberal bias and when they detect a conservitive bias:
LLLLLL..........................................CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Where Conservative Detect the bias:
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL............................................CCCCCCC

Both sides are blind to "a little bias" which they agree with.

I've seen things on fox that are just plain inaccurate in order skew the news and then when somebody corrects them on it they just call them elitist and say that its the liberals trying to subvert them. MSNBC just has better news reporting and we all know that reality has a well known liberal bias.

I would like to say something that Bill Maher said recently, "Just because there are two sides of an argument does not mean that both sides have good points" and thats that's why MSNBC is not Fox News.

Regardless of what you say is true (don't know, don't watch the last 3) why does Fox need to be actively conservatively biased. That's saying, the integrity of journalism is harmed by their passive bias, so to counter we will destroy ours by being active about the whole thing.

What a station needs to be doing to counter this, and this would be the only possible reasonable counter to all the pundit puppetry which is going on in all stations, but as you agreed thrives in Fox, is not be a mouthpiece of a political party to serve partisanship, but be an independent fact checker which serves the public and calls BS where they see it. That is what journalism needs to be. If you counter BS with more BS we the (or you, as the American) public gets double screwed. But hey! What's more important is ratings and number of viewers. That is what journalism as seen on FOX, CNN and MSNBC is held accountable for. Not how truthfull are they, but how many suckers do they serve,

How often do you hear the counter when someone rips on FOX, "well, they are the most viewed by far! Best ratings across the board".

In that case, I guess having sex with a successful prostitute means she really does love you.

The need exists for balance if you watch the others and fox you can interpolate the real story. MSNBC and the other shade their question to get liberal responses. Fox shades, ok, maybe more than shades, but at least you can get both sides by combining the too.

Nobody is saying that MSNBC in not biased. What they are saying is that Fox is MUCH more biased than MSNBC is. So much more so that you really can’t make the comparison that they are the same.

But it is a convenient tactic for righties to claim that MSNBC is the same because it absolves some of the responsibility for owning up to the fact that Fox is extremely biased. It is much easier to say “but you do too” than to actually respond to any criticism.

Bullplop, MSNBC is worse. Their 2010 election coverage is only the latest example.

MSNBC is the unwatched counter to FOX, and they use lowbrow tactics to attract viewers. Please ask me to give an example :)

MSNBC is not passive whatsoever. They're so blatantly left wing it hurts, and the fact that people don't see that is hilarious.

Yes they are. Just watch it for a few hours. Ed Shultz, Chris Mathews, Keith Oberman, and that lady.

And Lawrence O'Donnell who has his own show now and is a self-proclaimed socialist who lives to the "extreme left of you mere liberals". Yeah, they're not as biased.

Can't watch video where I am, what does he do exactly?

If I had the patience I'd write up a transcript. Let's just say he freaks out, makes crazy claims like "Republicans wanna see you dead!", angrily kicks a democrat tea party member off the air with a "get this idiot off my radio show!" and generally acts completely opposite of the way someone frm a group of people who are "better thank Beck and O'Reilly" should ever act.

I so very disagree, I'll explain in a bit.
MSNBC and the other shade their question to get liberal responses. Fox shades, ok, maybe more than shades, but at least you can get both sides by combining the too.
Yay. :/ How about ef both sides? What about reality? What about facts. That is what journalism is about. Backgrounds to put newsflashes in context.

That is the real story. Not providing angles. It's not an average between two political strategies. There's more to life than one axle where you move about linearly.

If you combine the two you get stereo bullshiz.
MSNBC is not passive whatsoever. They're so blatantly left wing it hurts, and the fact that people don't see that is hilarious.
I don't see it, but then again, I only see what's pointed out to me. So, please point out to me a similar active role for MSNBC as FOX played in the TEA Party rallies. And I remind you I have called MSNBC left wing biased, just in a different manner than FOX. "Passive" does not mean "less"

And since you seem to need to hang on to the notion MSNBC is worse (better/worse seem so meaningless without an objective quantifiable method, so I'm steering clear of any argument there) does that validate the crap FOX is spouting?

They are left wing true but at least they are ethical when it comes to journalism and do not explicitly lie or spin the facts to suit them. The fact that fox news is willing to flat out lie and call it news reduces their credibility as a news organization to zero.

My mom watches that Brian Williams douchebag every night. There is nothing liberal about him. He's almost trying too hard to be centrist(which of course means centre-right anywhere else in the world).

If you watch Fox, you will never get the right story.
