Moar Units Mod

MOAR Units Mod 1.2

I don't know if you take suggestions or not, but I had a couple ideas for units.

Civ: Germany
Unit: Tiger II - Tank - able to fire on targets from a distance (basically a ranged rank) and high defense stats.
Era: Modern

Civ: US
Unit: Iowa Class - Battleship - has greater movement range than other naval units (to represent it's role as a fast battleship) with slightly higher damage stats.
Era: Modern

Civ: Spain
Unit: Heavy 1st Rate - Naval unit - higher damage than other naval units of it's era.
Era: Renaissance

Civ: Greece
Unit: Cataphract - Heavy Cavalry - High defense stats
Era: Medieval (maybe Classical but I think Medieval would be a better fit)

Civ: Rome
Unit: Balistarii - Ranged(replaces crossbows) - higher damage and increased line of sight(just to make them stand out :D)
Era: Medieval

From Instructions:
"2. The contents of the MOAR_Units subdirectory should be copied into your Mods folder"

The "contents" of the folder MOAR_Units or the folder MOAR_Units?

It should be "The MOAR_Units subdirectory should be copied into your Mods folder." Sorry for the confusion! Will fix in the OP.

It's nice to see, that there already is mod which tries to fill the remaining unit-gaps.
I've read the comments, so I know that it is not possible at the moment to insert completely new models.
However, you could make an official list, which units you would like to add when the modding tools are available.
This maybe prevents doubled and tripled suggestions :D

I hope, that following units will find their way into this modpack in the future:
-) trebuchet as already mentioned
-)armored rider / cataphracts

I think that cataphracts should be a heavy classical era cavalry, and not only for greece.
At first they were used by Sarmatians, Parthians and Sassanids(Persians), then the romans (western and eastern roman empire) adopted them.
Later, the francs used them in the Early Middle Ages...

-)heavy swordsman for Middle Ages
wielding two-handed swords and wearing chain mail

.. in fact a little bit stronger meele swordsman

Special units like the TigerII and roman Balistarii are also good suggestions :)
The praetorian guards would be outstanding too (maybe a heavy swordsman replacement for rome)

---
Anyway, I'm very curios about further addidtions.
Thank you for this mod :)

Latest version (.40) bug? Appears base movement for all units is set to 100. Major game break to have starting warrior able to explore the entire landmass before second turn.

Edit: After further research, problem appears to be a conflict with another mod. Still trying to figure out exactly which one.

Im having issues with the unit names and descriptions, when the game is loading appears: Hoplita, Hetaroi and Acropole in Grek description but in game says: LOC_UNIT_COMPANION_CAVALRY_NAME instead of Hetaroi ;-;

I discovered the reason for the problem, it's because I was playing in multiplayer mode: Same Device/Hotseat
Sorry to bother you.

Due to compability: does any new unit require any strategic resource or did you change something about the techtree?

You can see which units require strategic resources (some do) and where units sit in the tech tree by looking through the MOAR_Units_Data.xml file. I didn't change the tech tree itself.

As of now yes. The proper tools for the community have not been released yet. What you have now are creative ways to get things out, and once the tools are released modders can start working with their own models and such.

Normal. Importing custom vehicle models isn't possible yet.

Great stuff - like ever from you:goodjob:

another question:
I remember that in Civ4 it was easy possible to chance the number of figures per unit and their size in the xml-files. When I lokk at the galley and the Quadrimere it seems so. So is this the same in Civ6? It would be a easy possibility to create more new unit :) For example you can make a something with the embarked units graphic or trader ship graphic...

yes, scale, number/type of figures and formations for all units can be changed in the Units.artdef file, I've made a first version of R.E.D., but we miss is a way to change all that without editing the game's original files.

How does one manually edit THIS mod to add your unit scale to the new units? =/
I simply must have both of your mods together. xD

I noticed u were able to add the axe to some other units. I offered to help someone redo the unit classes and one of my ideas was to do an axeman/swordsman type situation frim Civ IV. So im thinking would the axe look good with warrior anims? In which case do you think ethnic helmets/hats could be done to do a generic ethnic set of axemen for the existing types?

Oh yeah. The Aztecs also had warrior priests. I think you can do some kind of uu for them that involves faith. Is it possible to use the head from their crossbows on like a warrior or swordsman with maybe the eagles weapon? Just a thought. Look up Mexica warrior priest, some depictions have them with those pointy hats. Theres also a warrior class called the shorn ones that had shaved heads, often painted blue. Not sure how youd recreate this look. Ive literally played one game so far so my familiarity with what graphics are available to you are limited.
