The Newbie Nightmare
I can't help but feel that the modding advances in the civ4 realm will outdo vanilla ciV by quite some margin. Consider the following mods for Civ4:
BUG and BULL - customisable interface, unit auto-naming, on-the-fly game settings customisation
Dale's Combat Mod - ranged bombardment, archer bombardment, stack attack, archer support, etc.
Revolutions - the true rise and fall of empires. I actually can't play a civ game without it, it's that good.
I can honestly forsee a great number of people sticking with Civ4, at least until ciV has had the hell modded out of it - which probably won't be until a couple of years after it's release.
Any thoughts
