China (Jasmine Flower) - 7-3=4 - To be frank, sometimes, it just passess and I realise it's playing by the time it ends. It doesn't happen to me with any other left.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 12
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 20
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 22 Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 20+1=21 - Duduk.
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 5
China (Jasmine Flower) - 4
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 12
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 20
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18 Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23 (22+1) - This great theme got too many downvotes recently. It deserves to be in Top3 at least.
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 21 Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 2 (5-3) - Least favourite.
China (Jasmine Flower) - 1 (4-3) This doesn’t deserve to be this highly ranked. It’s a simple tune without much flair or unique instrumentation, and thus highly forgettable and unremarkable. Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 13 (12 + 1) I would not continually upvote this unless I truly think it deserved to be highly positioned. I do, for the reasons previously discussed.
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 20
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18 Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 21 Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 2
China (Jasmine Flower) - 1
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 13
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 20
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18 Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 24 (23+1) There is a reason why this had such a high score before that series of down votes, it was that darn good! The first tune involving that distinctive throat singing brilliantly captures the bleak open grasslands. The second tune amazingly brings to mind travelling vast distances on horseback. This theme perfectly encapsulates the nomadic life of the Mongols. Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 18 (21-3) The Scythia theme in comparison though perfectly pleasant, doesn't have any of the evocative and emotive elements that the Mongol theme has.
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 2
China (Jasmine Flower) - 2 (1+1): One more upvote before it goes. I really don't think it's the worst left at all.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 13 Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 17 (20-3): Not as memorable as the others for me.
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 24
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 18
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 2
China (Jasmine Flower) - 2 Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 14 (13+1) I will also continuously upvote this one not because it deserves to be highly positioned, it deserves to be NUMBER 1, for reasons stated before.
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 17
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 24 Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15 (18-3) I've never been a fan of this one, doesn't really evoke anything for me.
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 2
China (Jasmine Flower) - -1 (2 - 3) Eh, I'm not sure why this one is ranked to high. It's OK, but it's not better than the others. It's actually kind of annoying in the early eras.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 14
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 17
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 24
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15 Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 3 (2 + 1) On the other hand, this is by far the best one left. Why is it so low? The vocals aren't shouting like the Maori or the Cree. They're actually quite nice! I find myself humming this tune all the time. When Shaka is in the game, I like to trade with him just so I can hear his theme while the diplomacy screen is open.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 14 Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 11 (14 - 3). A statement to how subjective musical tastes are. Some feel the first to be eliminated should have been top 3, others consider the remaining top 6 to be horrible. I actually like all these themes here, but, for me, this is the weakest of the left
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 18
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 25
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15 Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 4 (3 + 1). If it were up to me, Georgia's would be 2nd! Only behind this theme. Love it so much, and so I wouldn't mind it surviving one more downvote
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 11 (14-3) ugly
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 12
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 19
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23 (22+1) seriously? the best and deserves not just to be in top3, but to be the top3 alone
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 1
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 8 (11-3) I like everything else except maybe Scythia but this one I really dislike. So I'm going to have to vote for it again. I can appreciate that it used some difficult instrumentation and it fits the nation it represents quite well but this one is not for me...
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 12 Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 20 (20+1) Spreading upvotes a bit.
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 1 - sad to see these guys go as it seems inevitable they will
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 8 Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 13 = 12 + 1. My favorite. That flute is unique and has a fitting Japanese sound. Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 17 = 20 - 3. It's not bad but it just doesn't grab me they way some others do.
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 1
I feel that @Mediocrity will have to decide on this matter.
Anyway...
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 8
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 13
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 17
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23 Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 15+1=16 - Some may not see any scene, but I always imagine a nice evolution from wind blowing through vast grass steppes, going through a Scythian horde travelling slowly under greyish skies, continuing with majestic mixture of grandeur and mysteriousness of Central Asian cities of blue domes, ending with a visit to futuristic metropolis built by these people of the steppe. Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 1-3=-2 (ELIMINATED) - This is a very pleasant theme, and it evolves nicely. It is vocal, separating it from majority of themes, and I enjoy this Zulu singing. It is happy and cheerful similarly to this brilliant song called Mama Munu Dile, which is part of Kongolese ambient tracks. It isn't either too energetic nor overly jolly. But similarly to Alexander's Macedon, Zulu are a militaristic Civ with Shaka being a warlord, and their themes both share a common problem - a happy theme playing while you burn others' empires in war makes a somewhat strange scene.
It's really getting down to the wire now. I'm just really pleased that the ones that have made it have kept a bit of traditional music throughout the eras!
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 9 (8 + 1) As many others have said, it's a very fitting theme for Gitarja. In particular I love how, towards the end of the atomic theme, the music serenely keeps building to a grand explosion of music. It should be in the top 3 in my opinion. Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 10 (13 - 3) I have nothing against this theme. I'm actually just downvoting it this time since I'm struggling to figure out who should be the next to go. At the very least I'd say it deserves to be in the top 5 but not in my top 3.
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 17
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 16
I've said that the Zulu were one of the weaker themes compared to the other top choices here before but I was struggling with being sure if I'd want to eliminate them until I saw the vote by @Kimiimaro . These are definitely hard choices.
About the reasons for voting, I definitely sympathize that it's hard to come up with different reasons for upvoting or downvoting the same things over and over again, especially on something that's rather subjective. However, I do agree with @Leucarum that it would be polite to say 'as per previous reasons' to have something there. It sounds pretty reasonable to me.
By the way, if its alright for me to ask, who do I message about my idea for the next elimination game? Just asking to see if there's a line so to speak and that I don't bother the wrong person.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 9
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 10 Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 14 (17-3) Certainly not bad, but not second best by a long shot.
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23 Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 17 (16+1) Best overall theme. Total immersion.
Early votes for me as I don't anticipate being up as late as I was last night.
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 9 Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 7 (10-3): It really isn't a bad theme but I don't think it deserves to have made it this far. Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 15 (14+1): Reasons already stated. It is top 2 material, out of the ones we have left.
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 23
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 17
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 9
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby) - 7
Mali (Mali Sadjo; Masana Seesay) - 15 Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 24 (23+1) I think this is one of the best themes overall, and from the 5 remaining, this should be the one that wins.
Scythia (Traditional Melody) - 14 (17-3) This is the one I like the least from the ones remaining.
