So you intend to to mix everything in one pot or create a subforum (or even two subforums? From what I read here NESers are not worthy to mingle with IOTers or stay in a subforum.
After the merge, the new mods should go through the archives and carry out targeted thread deletion of throwaway and dead on arrival IoTs and NESes so that searching the new merged forum doesn't become a chore and a half.
Speaking from the IOTers if I was given a vote on who be a junior mod I would nominate Thorvald for his senior services to IOT and his civil nature.
It's not really the lack of a mod. I just think NESes will be surrounded by countless IOTs in a single forum and merely disappear...
A thousand times no. Even the DOA NESes are part of our history. I will never do that or endorse doing that under any circumstances.
No no and no. Thorvald may be one of the oldest community members, but he can also be extremely biased and inflammatory at times, especially concerning one or two members. If we were to appoint new moderators for the subforums, I feel like appointing Thorvald would be a mistake.
If you want to propose an IOT mod then you should pick somebody who doesn't have a history of crap-talking other people behind their backs.
Why does this remind me Le Pen or UKIP or Golden Dawn? Europe will flood Muslims who shall Islamicize Europe!
But it will happen! You'll see! We urgently need euforumgenics
If you want to propose an IOT mod then you should pick somebody who has historically been a relatively neutral and calm member of the community.
After the merge, the new mods should go through the archives and carry out targeted thread deletion of throwaway and dead on arrival IoTs and NESes so that searching the new merged forum doesn't become a chore and a half.
Just to make certain, some NESers expect others to have a degree in creative writing before joining, some do not. Do not take the opinion of one NESer as the opinion of another.
I voted against the merge because it wasn't accompanied by appropriate planning or concessions. But, if we can collectively negotiate for those sorts of concessions to accompany a merge, including a space for PDMA leniency and mods from IOT and Frontier NES communities, I think that the vote for a merge will quickly move to near 100%.
I, for one, would change my vote to a yes.
Give our community the assurances it requires, and everyone can come out of this happy.
Lucky is willing to help, and very often he does. He's welcoming to new players who put in a good faith effort. He's just often extremely frustrated with people who don't listen to what he has to say, or respond to it. And when he voices that frustration he makes people angry at him. So it's a difficult situation.
He's not helping towards improving the quagmire this discussion has turned into.
