NESCraft

Be ASSERTIVE, Daft!

Very well :) Given the lack of protest:

Orders Deadline = Wednesday Night GMT

[TIMER=10/16/2013 11:59 PM GMT; WARNING! EXPLOSION!][/TIMER]

2 AP

1 AP: Farm the plots of land

1 AP: Try to befriend a dog by crafting a toy for it.

@Arrow Gamer, you actually have 4AP (already an adolescent - you will be an adult if you survive this turn). I can make up the rest, but feel free to change your orders ^^

Orders

1 AP - refit my spear with an oryx horn, to make it extra lethal
1 AP - travel north, to the fruit on the bushes, and eat those, or, optionally, if I can chase a prey (like the zebra), kill that instead and use the following 1 AP for a new fire
1 AP - (if I do not hunt an animal and use this AP for a fire) craft linen from nearby grass, for future use
1 AP - sleep, either by my fire or under the bushes, in my warm oryx clothes

Patchy, Chinese_Warlord, ya'll gonna post orders? I'd really like to not be the only one taking care of the baby today. :p

Tomorrow, it's late now and I just finished with the work that was sucking up most of my time.

Orders:

1AP Go hunt the Wildebeest crossing the river with CW. Take my spear with me and work as a team to either kill the ones that get across or steal kills that the crocs get near the river bank by using the long spears to force it away from the dead wildebeest.

3AP Work on building a fishing weir so that we can safely fish from the river without having to worry about crocodiles. Also keep a spear near by while building it just in case an animal tries to jump me. The fishing weir looks something like this:

1AP Sleep

Orders:

1AP: Hunt and breakdown the deer to the west
1AP: Chop down a tree for wood
1AP: Begin construction on another addition to the home (I'm going to start calling it a longhouse soon)
1AP: Using the bones, skull, and antlers begin constructing a shrine (if someone wants to clarify what we want to start worshiping have at it I don't have any ideas right now)
1 AP: Sleep outside if there isn't enough room

Non AP actions:
Eat if there is enough food for all
Help Lord_Herobrine if I'm nearby when she delivers
Give the Rhino another vegetable if there is an extra

Day 9
~Wolfhaven~

Mericary, Herobrine, Justo, Milarqui, Arrow Gamer, Nintz

Spoiler :

The first task for the tribe is to placate the approaching Rhino, in which Merciary's talent for Animal Lore is put to the test. But with some free vegetables, the Rhino is led safely away from the Dwelling and the garden patches. It remains nearby - either partly tame, or simply expecting more food, but in any case not threatening.

The next event is the arrival of Justo, offering gifts of Apples and a Goat Skull, which seem well enough received - Herobrine in particular makes the newcomer welcome over the course of the day. Merciary meanwhile goes off on yet another hunting trip; he fails to find any boars, but has the fortune to take down a large, elderly Red Deer stag with a well-aimed spear throw - returning with hides, antlers and plenty of meat. Merciary keeps busy throughout the day, later joined by Justo in cutting wood and using stone blocks to expand the increasingly-cramped Dwelling, while Herobrine makes a suit of clothes for Merciary from some of the Dire Boar hides.

The twins continue to mature rapidly, becoming adolescents and taking their chosen names: Nintz and Arrow Gamer. Nintz seems especially boisterous, and spends much of the day exploring - somewhat dangerously - picking wild flowers and seeds, with the tame Wolf for company. Nintz meanwhile makes toys for himself and his sister from the growing pile of animal bones. Both find time to help out with some gardening tasks, Arrow Gamer crafting a new Hoe to help till the soil. With Tigers and Bears roaming in the north, the tribe expand their gardens westward and southward instead.

A merry night is had in the newly-expanded Dwelling, with a feast of apples, roasted vegetables, and somewhat chewy but palatable meat. Merciary again sleeps outside, where he and Herobrine find themselves sharing another romantic moment. In the morning, Herobrine, Merciary and Justo all have 5AP, while Nintz and Arrow Gamer have 4AP each and are now adolescents. Nintz has learnt Animal Lore, and Arrow Gamer learnt Craftyness from the previous day. Four garden patches have now been planted or re-planted, and it will take at least 2AP to tend them all today.

Milarqui, meanwhile, strikes the earth and begins to dig towards the human tribe with his bare claws; it is exhausting work, even with the strengthening energies of the near-full moon. At night he surfaces and scares away a large Tiger that was stalking close to the human's home.

Orders: 5AP

-Tend to all the gardens, with help from Arrow Gamer try to till the ground for a new plot near the lake to the south. Be careful not to alert any dangerous animals. 2AP
-Haul a few stone blocks from the rock pile to the west to be used in the additions to the longhouse. All the while be careful about the huge elephant stalking near it. 1AP
-Spend the later part of the day meditating and gaining rest for the inevitable delivery of my new child(s). If possible, allow the friendly wolf to see the newborn just after birth, hopefully building new trust and friendship between them. 1AP
-Spend the night in the longhouse cuddling my newborn to keep s/he warm in the night. Sleep with a smile on my face. :) 1AP

Free Actions

-Keep the fire going.
-Eat my share of the day's collection, making sure to feed my children and newborn as well. Make a fuss out of my twins washing their hands in the river before eating. :p

Hey Daft, I was wondering, are there natural wonders in this world? By that I mean are there any amazing features or landmarks in the undiscovered wilderness? A simple yes or no will suffice. :)

1 AP helping in the Garden.
1 AP learning how to Smelt.

My childhood was a happy time to me. It was a world of bright colours and crisp flavours. Everything is brighter when you're a child, and everything tastes stronger. I always tasted many things, much to my father's frustration. In the lands away from our garden, there were some plants that were dangerous to eat. Dad always told me not to touch them, but I disobeyed. I remember becoming badly ill after eating one type of leaf. I hid it well, and I don't think he ever learned of it.

Growing up around plants gave me a good knowledge of them, and I always felt that I knew them... maybe not as well as the adults, but much more closely. Thus, the garden was my home, moreso than our huts ever were.

Maybe I would have come to be a gardener. But the spirits wouldn't have it. The whole course of my life changed when I first saw the melting rock.

Father had brought a special rock into my uncle's fire-holder. I was there as it grew bright and drooped like mud. I saw him shape it. I felt the heat of the fire, as the plant spirits transcended into flame spirits, and their energies were imbued into this creation.

This was the one colour that had not faded from my earliest childhood.

Here, I knew I had found my calling. I had been raised in greenery, but I knew now that my true element was fire. I could sit in the garden for days, but my mind ever wandered back to the furnace. The heat was searing, but just as I had sought out strange and bitter things to taste as a child, so too did I embrace the pain of the heat. In sensation was discovery. Alongside fire, I was at one with the spirits.

I dont know if Daft is continuing the new spawns to this day or not. There are at least two kids being born though, so it may be possible you can be one of them instead.

If Daft isn't accepting this form of sign up and hasn't got round to updating the OP I'd be willing to do that.

Was gone. Sorry bout the late orders.

Nintz

1 AP: Eat
1 AP: Rest

If required to finish tending the fields, my other 2 AP will go to that.

If Arrow and Herobrine can do that without me, instead send my 2 AP attempting to domesticate the hopefully friendly rhino.

May be split 1-1 as well, if 1 AP is required for farming.

Thanks guys!

I repeat that Nintz and Arrow Gamer actually have 4AP this turn as they are adolescents. Will become adults at the end of this turn. If you want to expand your orders feel free to do so.

Will decide on spawning new people as I get through the update.

Aiming to finish the update on Sunday :salute:

Hey Daft, if we want to get reincarnated in the same community, would we be able to start queues not just for joining the NES, but for specific regions? I'd be willing to wait a generation or more, but I like what we're doing in Pandaholme...

I like this proposal.

Despite proposing it, I'm actually of two minds. :p

The pros are obvious, the cons are that I like the idea that we're building in the same way that humans in real life do -- for some unspecified future, and that our plans really have to span our own lifetimes and nothing more. We can't plan for twenty turns ahead because our characters will all be dead -- and we won't necessarily reappear. There's something very liberating and very "real" about that that other NESes don't have.

But yeah, still some pros. Just raising the discussion.
