New Civs [Suggestion/Request]

Everyone should be able to build it.

Nobel prizes are awarded by Sweden, thus it should be their UP IMO. Something like : +20% GP Birth rate and +5% GP Birth rate for every Civ you're friend with.

I don't agree in two points. First, Nobel Prizes have worldwide impact equally to all civs, there is no specification to Sweden. Second, the effect is :) caused by great persons.

Nobel prizes have a worldewide effect. It isn't related only to swedish civilization, they should have the same effects to all civs. So it should be buildable by everyone.

They aren't a building, so they aren't a world wonder. However, they are unique. So they are a project like the Manhattan project.

They give hapiness to great people and their nations. So the effect +1:) per established great person is ok.

I will specialise the effect to +1:) per established great scientist (chemistry, physics, medicine), great artist (literature) and great merchant (economics).
Great peacemakers have no representative. Great engineers, great spies and great commanders don't fit. Great prophets are outdated.

For Sweden, how about 'The Power of Armed Neutrality' - can trade their final copy of a luxury / resource away without losing access to it themselves - simulating their longtime monopoly on naval stores, pitch and their vital iron trade, as well as their admirable tradition of neutrality that dates from the very moment they got kerbstomped?

Maybe, it isn't a bad idea I think.

For me, the Karolin also sounds like an alternative UP:
Karolin: no (or less?) unhappiness from conscription

Please can you give me a link about Karolins?

Riksbank is a good UB. Maybe +2:commerce:

I don't think that Nobel prizes should be represented by :) in addition to GP respective effects. Moreover, there are no Nobel prizes without Sweden, but it is true that it has a worldwide effect, which can be represented by a Diplomatic bonus. Also, Every Civ can have a Nobel prize, that's why the effect would give a higher GP Birth rate for Sweden and the Civ they're friend with.

Hey, why don't we represent the Oscars, Emmys, Cannes Film Festival, Rammstein concerts, and TED Talks while we're at it.

This is a silly idea; the Nobel Prize.

Maybe the Nobel Prize could be was world wonder or a national project; it would give +1 happiness per specialist in the city it was built in and +1 happiness per settled Great Person in all cities.

You can't compare any of those with the Nobel Prize. Sorry. Somehow I don't think you have known anyone who has one.

I really like this idea as a world project (Internet or SDI), even without the +1 happiness per specialist in the building city. However, I think it should be +1 happiness for great person anywhere in the world and also give a +1 relations bonus with all other leaders.

Stop being so flippantly pleb about this.

Pardon?

Pleb, according to the TheFreeDictionary.com, means a commoner, or a person of low class.

It doesn't really make any sense to me, unless he is trying to say you are being nonintellectual about the subject.

Late game needs more challenges, not less.
Nobel Prizes is not special in the grand scheme of all awards and charities.

Actually, to most people they are by far one of, if not the, most prestigious awards on the planet.

Hah, man; you should have seen how happy every single Peruvian was when the Academy announced we had our very first Nobel Prize... Even if the Laureate had a bad reputation due to his political convictions and ideals (and acquiring Spaniard citizenship after losing the Presidential Election), everyone went nuts. So yeah, I agree with you on that.

The Nobel Prize should be built with the same mechanics of the Internet, but there must be some requirement as to make its construction a challenge. It's not like it will give the Civ that builds it a significant edge over its competitors, by the time the NP is built; there would only be 40-80 turns left or something like that.
