New Civs [Suggestion/Request]

The majority, if not all, of Nobel Prizes Laureates are GPs. There isn't any other award system that has this ability.

Why are we talking about Nobel prizes now instead of new civilization?
by the way, since Babylon almost 100% already collapsed by 1000AD, I think Swahili could use Babylon spot as respawn.. just like how Maya >> Colombia and Persia >> Iran things :D

Ethiopia is sometimes dead by then, maybe it could use Ethiopia's spot as respawn?

Actually, to most people they are by far one of, if not the, most prestigious awards on the planet.
Yeah, this. Also, it has a truly international outreach.

Comparing it to things like the Academy Awards which are basically just a self-congratulatory vehicle for the Hollywood studio system is ridiculous.

Update the proposal considering the latest feedback.

Sweden:
Spawn in 1523 in Stockholm.
UU: finnish cuasisier (cuasisier): 12 strength, flank attack vs siege units, 25% chance of withdrawal, free amphinious invasion promotion, it requires horse and copper
OR Karolin: musketman: 10 strength, free amphibious invasion promotion
UB: Riksbank (bank): +3:commerce:, +50% :commerce:
UP: The power of Karolins: no unhapiness from draft under conscription
Proposed goals:
*Conquer the area known as Swedish empire by 1721.
Full control: Sweden, Finland, Baltics, Saint-Peterbourg
Control one city: Hambourg, North America, West Africa
*Complete the Nobel Prizes Project by 1895.
*Run the most modern civics, have no unhappy or unhealthy cities and be solid in 1940AD.
(Republic, Universal Suffrage, Egalitarianism, Public Wellfare, Environmentalism, Secularism and Conscription)

It starts with Printing Press. If Protestantism isn't founded it spawns catholic and found Protestantism the next turn. Else it spawns protestant and at war with every catholic civ.
Vikings will become Denmark-Norway at Swedish spawn, not at catholicism convert.

The Nobel Prizes:
It will be a world project (similar to the Manhatan Project) that requires Scientific method and Chemistry.
Effects:
+1:) per established great scientist, great artist and great merchant worldwide.
+2 friendlier additude by affected civs

Starting techs (among the others):
Militray tradition, Printing Press, Education, Gunpowder, Banking

Here's what I'd do:

Sweden
Spawn: 1523 in Stockholm
Unique Unit: Karolin (Musketman, starts with Pinch)
Unique Building: Riksbank (Bank, building costs halved)
Unique Power: Nobel Prize: +20 GPP in your capital for every foreign great person after the discovery of the Scientific Method
Unique Historical Victory:
- Control the complete coast of the Baltic Sea in 1700 AD
- Be first to discover all Industrial techs*
- Have an average happiness and health value of X by 1970 AD

*means that you have to be the first who knows all techs from the Industrial era, not the first for all of them individually. X in the third goal would need to be balanced to be challenging.

Nobel Prizes could also be a wonder with a similar effect, but I don't know an appropriate UP in that case.

Oh.. so all this Nobel discussion is about new Sweden civilization... I always under impressions that Noble are Norwegian, so I don't understand the discussion  (and too lazy to read)

So for #UHV1 Sweden will need to control roughly Stockholm, Helsinki, Lulea, St. Petersburg, Reval, Gdansk, Kopenhagen, and Hamburg? How vast will the Baltic Sea be?

All the water east of Denmark, essentially. The Swedes never managed to control all of these areas but you would have to fight their traditional enemies, mainly Russia and Poland, and a bit of Germany and Denmark perhaps. And it captures the Swedish long term goals in the 17th century pretty well.

Ethiopia is sometimes dead by then, maybe it could use Ethiopia's spot as respawn?

Because Ethiopia:
1) Have goals to be done in 1600s and 1900s
2) Will be Swahili's neighbor
3) Will act like blockage so Swahili's do not over-expansion to the north, Egypt and so on...

but more importantly,
Ethiopia will create a unique interaction, strategy, threat, and challenges for Swahili because it's both neighbor, and it will also improves both games quality vice versa.

If Swedes is to be added, I hope the LH is not that Gustav Adolph.. because the current LH (honestly) looks like a merchants/tour guide in front of a palace for me.. but I don't know anything about Swedish royals anyway :mischief::lol:

He kind of looked like that, though:

350px-Gustav_II_of_Sweden.jpg

"Hey buddy -rustles Gustav's hair- I'm looking for the king. Can you show me to him?"

Here's what I'd do:

Sweden
...
Unique Building: Riksbank (Bank, building costs halved)

I associate light engineering with Sweden more than banking. How about a forge or factory substitute that with access to iron gives XP to tanks, gunpowder units, aircraft and/or artillery or something?

That's a nice idea.

Nobel Prize, if added, should have a vote thing similar to Apostolic Palace or UN, that allows a nation to be selected for a Nobel Prize. That nation gains a bonus for a small amount of turns. However, the nation that built the Nobel Prize always has that bonus.

I am not sure if Nobel Prize winner IRL is affected by UN-style voting from all over the countries... I thought it was decided internally somewhere in Scandinavia by groups of people that then announced to the world?

What seems to me as a nice bonus is this:
Settled great people provide GP points.

This sounds good imo!

And additionally Riksbank isn't a good UB for the Swedes, since that's basically the same as the American's UB would be the Fed. It is hard to come up with an alternative, although imo it should have something to do with the Swedish Empire rather than modern Sweden.

The unique power maybe could be the Power of Tactics: all units start with March.
