New Civs [Suggestion/Request]

It could improve yields on Desert or Plains (anything Arid) tiles.
I'm fine with a Turkish civ. Named just the Turks. We should call the other one the Ottomans though to prevent confusion.

Something in Central Asia would be great. Would it replace the Seljuks or complement them?

I think a golden horde-west mongolian civilization or timurid civilization or early muslim turkic states (ghaznavids?) should be in game; central asia is too empty without them

The Gokturk empire works in every sense as a start point - it marks the point the Turks became a force significant enough to be widely attested, and it arrives just in time to present a challenge to China and the Arabs. Also, a civ starting in the Jetisuu area has enough resources on hand and lies far enough from other civ's heartlands to be viable without butchering the map.

The Ghaznavids were impressive, but basically ephemeral outside their core territory.

I'm not sure about gokturks, I prefer a maveraünnehir-transaxonia turkic civilization with a converts defeated barbs up (rfc classical khazar up) or plus trade route up for silk road;
I think best choice is kara-khanid khanate (840-1212):
first muslim turkic state - 934 ad ; similar to spreading of christianity in vikings
fought against both china and arabs (founder tribes fought against tang dynasty and umayyad caliphate)
first turkish dictionary wrote in this khanate, ''divanu lügati't-türk''
capitals are kashgar, balasagun and samarqand; important cities of doc in central asia
for dynamic civilization names:
if khanate expands india and iran it becomes ghaznavids, if expands to mesopotamia and iran becomes seljuks, if stays at samarqand becomes khawarezm-shahs; after the discovery of divine right

Woul you suggest a civ like that to replace the Seljuks? Or should they be at risk of being attacked by them as well?
If the first is true, I don't even want to think about the amount of rebalancing that would have to be done, considering it took quite a while for the Seljuks to be balanced without pissing everybody off (which I know they still do some people...).

Add Timur! His special ability is he can raise his allies' cities for culture in his capital.

I like that, except for the allies part :)

If mercenaries are ever reinstated, how about a Turk UA giving culture whenever one of their units is hired as a mercenary?

No, they won't be back. What made you think that?

first idea, and if there will be a turkic civilization, IMO this turkic civilization should make iran respawn conditional; ai will always collapses against mongolia, so it won't be a problem for other civs but for player, this would be annoying :p
and instead of seljuks, with their confederation up (?) they won't need lots of spawning units, so I think this means a better gameplay-more resist chance for -iran conqueror- india or arabia players.

A turkic civ in Central Asia wouldn't be bad, actually. Could represent the Gokturks, Uyghurs, Karakhanids, Chagatai (maybe), Timurids, Shaybanids, and the divided Turkic states in Central Asia ready to be gobbled up by Russia, perhaps even representing Kazakhstan and the modern Turkic states. Seljuks should be seperate in my opinion.

But wouldn't that make Russia taking over them much much harder along with straining Iran and China?

I would imagine that it would make Russian conquest of the region supremely easier, and the ideal Turkic state would interfere with Iran obviously, but there wouldn't be too much interaction with China.

Now what happens with Mongolia, I wonder what would be a good solution?

Buff Mongolia slightly, reduce their flip zone, spawn them at war with the Turks. Give them conquerors if necessary. The Turks should be annihilated by the Mongols.

I would love to see a new Swedish civ, separate from the Vikings (which I feel represent Denmark and Norway better). After all, Sweden and Denmark were at war with each other just about all the time from the 15th to 19th century. And Sweden was a very major empire in the 17th and 18th centuries. Of course, it can be so currently when the Vikings turn into Sweden, but it always feels odd to me to have its big rival Denmark-Norway missing when Sweden is powerful.

Another civ I would love to see split into two would be Russia. I think its spawn date could be moved to the 14th century, while the Kievan Rus' becomes a separate civ. This would allow the Mongol invasion of Russia to be much stronger and finish off Kiev ~80% of the games, rather than just spawning a couple of Keshiks that may or may not take a single town. A surviving/respawning Kievan Rus' could become Ukraine.

The first idea is great but has been proposed a billion times. Every time, Leo has said maybe.

I don't know about the second idea. I barely know any Russian history so I don't have the accurate knowledge to say whether it would be good or not.
