Yes, like some of the American Amph.Tank at WW2, like the Sherman DD.
They were used at Iow Jima or Okinawa, but also at the D-Day in the Normandy.

An amphibious tank would be nice, but what's to keep them from crossing the ocean?

I think by saying amphibious, they are refering to the ability to attack directly from a transport without first being unloaded.
