I'll probably use him alongside Garibaldi in my game. I think the clothes should be more dark-blue or black and not grey. I would also try and find him a different background.

Definitely change the background, that's in Rome and he was King of Savoia. In fact I'm not entirely sure Rome came under his control during his lifetime (but I could be wrong). Either way he'd be better suited somewhere else.

I'd also attempt to make the uniform look more like this:

Its a fine LH though, it could just look a bit more like Vittorio that's all. Good work.

Thanks. I don't want to do anymore with his geometry, only the texture. I used another pic, and my leaderhead is very realistic, with that picture.

for texturing you can clone brush right from a picture or take another skin like san martin's or my fremonts then adjust the hue or grayscale it. and then way the texture wont look as flat. another way is to use light and dark brushes to add tone to it

I support you in your view, nitram. Your LH is pretty well done. There are some leaders that look pretty different on different picture although it's always the same person. Think of Kossuth - I've seen pretty different pictures of him. So, if I'd be you, I wouldn't touch the geometry either, only alter the texture as you said. Although I wouldn't say that your leaderhead doesn't look that different from the picture The Capo posted at all - your version is only either. So, if someone likes to have it like on The Capos picture, he might change the colour of the hair (and maybe that of the skin, too, so it fits better to the then brown hair) by his own. Still, although the background looks nice, it might not fit because of the reasons already mentioned. Don't know - my lack of knowledge.

My Victor Emmanuel is an older version, and he is looks like an old man.
So, I think, it isn't too bad.

For the background I'd go with one of these images, which are of this buliding.

Not only does it have historical significance to this LH and the Italian Unification movement, but it also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So its a pretty prominent building and probably makes the MOST sense as his background.

I'm curious did you try the "smooth" feature when you did your geometry? the face came out pretty smooth which is hard to do by hand.

where did you get his hair texture?
