NOTW XXXIX: Impending Retribution Game Thread

Start Morning Phase One



Below is the first journal entry of a non-player sailor, chronicling the events aboard the Impending Retribution. Updates will be written through the eyes of this sailor as new journal entries. Do not try to perform player actions against him, as his character has no impact on any events that take place. He is merely a bystander writing down his thoughts from a non-omniscient third person point of view.

Journal Entry Number One. 06:00 shipboard time.

Dear Journal:

Fortunately the weather as quieted down enough so I can write this without scribbling all over the place. Damn swells ruined the first page of this thing... And by the way, that intro sucks. "Dear Journal..." What is this, first grade? Note to self: change it.

Why I’m starting this log is baffling to me as well. I’ve never been one to write things down, but the events aboard the ship are getting out of hand. Guys are getting killed while others seem to be trying to sink the ship. Our Captain being killed is probably the least of our worries. That at least we can replace, at least temporarily until we make it back to shore. It’s the equipment I’m worried about. Just about every piece of gear is offline and we’re sitting ducks without it.

Someone is going to have to take charge of the situation. I have no idea who is who. Other guys I’ve talked with seem to be leery of just about everyone, and that goes for each other as well. Hell, most of the guys seem pretty spent psychologically already. In any event, we’re going to need a new Captain soon, or else we’ll all be led to slaughter. Someone also found a Master Key and it was decided that we’d vote on a new location for it as well. Finally, another decided to put Whitower's Revolver up for vote as well.

Thus ends my first entry. I’ll come back from time to time and update this thing just so we have something to look back on as the days continue. I just hope my days continue in the meantime. I just want to get home…

Well Takhisis is usually a good place to start looking for scum.

If you have information on him, then why don't you tell us? Why would he be a good place to start looking, what has he done? Tell us, Darth Caesar.

I (Autolycus) would like the Master Key, I'd like to see if I can repair any of the damaged Equipment, and for that, I'll need access. Perhaps some time in the Brig will help Ryan (CCRunner) sober up"

 

[Winston Hughes]

Apprentice Hughes stared at some seagulls circling overhead. Then he looked at the captain's revolver. Then back at the seagulls. Then at the revolver again.

I need that gun. It's for... erm... protection. Yeah. Just in case anybody tries to... erm... You know... Erm... Yeah.

His impressive and convincing case for taking possession of the weapon now concluded, Apprentice Hughes went back to staring at the seagulls once more.

"I can understand our Warrant Officer's reasoning but in the same manner I think that's why I would like the Master Key. I think we do need a Captain and I'll probably support someone, just have to see which superior officers feel suited for the job."

Haven't heard from civplayah and I very much agree with earlier reasoning that we should watch out for people sneaking off on their own, that would be a security threat.

Commander Methos is a fine leader, the only one who is suitable to take the mantle of captain at this stage.

 

[Methos]

As a current Commander, I believe I should be Captain and would like the like revolver to protect myself as Captain.

I think Renata should have the Master Key.

I think Secura should have the Revolver.

I think I should be the captain. Yarr...

I think Robbiecon should hang.

You boys who have your eyes on that key, how about you come tell mama Renata just why you think you're qualified t' fix anything round here.

I'd like to have the Master Key in order to access my hangar in order to estimate damage, sir. I'd also like to put up a notice for a materials and engineers requirement to repair the hangar and helicopter, sir.

"Commander Methos indeed would make a fine Captain and I approve of retaining our command structure. I think passing on the late Captain's revolver to him is also not a bad idea."

If I may say so sirs and gentlemen, however, I believe the wisdom of needing this key for repair duties is questionable. Many of you repairmen could be given appropriate access by superior officers without the key granting you reign all over the ship, or the risk the key falls into the wrong hands. That said as I admit I'd have no immediate use for it we could leave the key in Autolycus' capable hands to start.

Renata is a good girl.. perhaps a bit young.. inexperienced.. . rash .. foolish.. but I am certain she is perfectly capable of carrying a key
