Obama is a joke

Dude, that's insane! There are still 7 states in the union that manage to function without a personal income tax. WTF is wrong with California?
California requiers a ridiculous 2/3 majority to pass budget changes, so either party can hold the budget hostage to its whims and nothing ever gets done.

They got us into this problem, they'll have to cut back their worthless safety net programs to get us out.
Yeah, it was the government who got you into this trouble. By deregulation. By doing exactly what the slow are proposing doing to get you out. Deregulation. You just have to hope that people learn from their mistakes for a change.

Pretty slim hope I agree.
Corporations create enough of that by themselves in themselves. I'm sure government bureaucracy is SOOO much worse than that.
Amazing innit? I can't imagine what makes people think why large private institutions don't have the same level of bureaucracy as the government. I have had to deal with banks and insurance companies for the last 6 months and boy do they screw up, lose information and waste time. And the much touted competition doesn't help because I looked around and talked to people who go to other companies and their experiences are exactly the same.

No. So totally wrong. Private business makes the economy go. The government does not produce anything but more bureaucracy.

And, you know, the army that stopped the Reds from strolling into DC. And the roads. Oh, and your job. And the water supply. And all the regulations that stop you getting killed any time you walk outside your door. But I'm sure you'd be fine without all of those

No, it doesn't work that way. You don't question magic. Abracadabra hocus pocus and the invisible hand makes sure the private sector is better than the public sector. Ask Mises the Great and his disciples. They'll tell you.

They use taxes that are worse than the income tax.
They don't use any taxes that are unique to their state. What tax is worse than an income tax?
I would...the property taxes in California are the reason behind so many of the problems.
You have a keen grasp of the obvious.
Read and enjoy. And hopefully learn something useful for a change.
I resent that remark. It reeks of a false sense of knowledge possessed by the poster.

Way to miss the point! :goodjob: Let me recap: California has the highest personal income tax, highest sales tax, and highest property taxes, yet the state is struggling financially. Why are other states so less poorly run than California, the Liberal Mecca of the USA.

Are you being intentionally dense? Is your agitation with me such that you are unable to read posts & focus your reasoning skills? Are you so obsessed with my posting that you have to post a "great works of government" spiel every time you respond to me no matter the topic?

Please, I need a laugh, what government regulations stop me from getting killed any time I walk outside my door?

Emissions regulations, food purity regulations, banning of materials like asbestos, drug purity regulations, that law that stops people from walking up to you and blowing your brains out and getting away with it...

Answer? How am I supposed to answer a guy standing on his soap box spouting off, it is not like he's asking questions.

I was going to rest easy either way. ;)

I'm not on my soapbox, I'm pointing out something that is painfully obvious to pretty much everyone.

Its also a lot of stuff that also wouldn't exist without socialists and leftists who fought for them tooth and nail.

You see, unlike the capitalist ruling classes, we fight for everyone's rights, not just our own.

True. Unions have fought for so much for everybody, yet so many ignorant, greedy people put them down now.

Back in the day, sure, but today most of them are essentially corporations in their own right, providing a service to a paying customer. When unions and corporations march hand-in-hand to Washington to negotiate deals, you know something is dreadfully wrong. Unions, like the social democrats, have been co-opted into the capitalist system, and had their fangs and claws pruned so they cannot threaten the established order, only work inside it.

Some are toothless nowadays, but it's still better to be in one. they arent as close to management here as they are in the US, by the sounds of it.

I didn't bother to quote your ME TOO buddy.
I'm not on my soapbox, I'm pointing out something that is painfully obvious to pretty much everyone.
Ok, first you get up on the soapbox about government services when I said that the private sector, not government, makes the economy go. After displaying a pathetic knowledge of economics disguised as a government is great rant, you go on to lament that I didn't answer any of your points.

Next you go on to make the absolutely ******ed statement that somehow government passed "regulations that stop you getting killed any time you walk outside your door", at which point I did actually ask a question which you didn't answer.

Lastly you retreat & say that you're just pointing out what is obvious, so that makes me wonder, what was your question you were crying that I didn't answer?

(all bolding is my doing)
