Random Rants LVII: wow. many anger. very whining.

The radial menus weren't too fun to use, I'll admit, but the combat was otherwise entirely stock 2nd Edition stuff, as in all the Infinity Engine games. In fact, it was probably better, given that the character models were larger and you had a run function in the game.
Oh yeah, the UI was awful. I haven't played any other Infinity Engine games, but imo Torment really suffered from the engine used (edit: although I didn't have a problem with it graphically).

So recently I purchased 2 x 1 Tb Samsung EVO 840 SSDs, and I just get around to formatting and setting them up today after figuring out how to enable AHCI mode without reinstalling windows...

While googling around, I find that the new EVO 850s are already released.

AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! Though its some consolation that they cost £43 more per drive.

I hope I can last 4 more months before I get fired from my job

It'll be at least 1 full year of my life entirely wasted. I suppose thats what a job is anyways though.

:( Hope it works out for you.

edit: RANT we still have those stupid goddamn christmas smilies?

Not anymore, it looks like they just switched them off again. Finally...

Weird. When I first load a page, it shows the Christmas smileys, but when I refresh it changes back to the normal ones.

Your browser is probably still caching the christmas smilies.

Otherwise the Native American spirits underground awake and start haunting every single stadium from L.A to New York.

Is there a rule saying the US national anthem has to be butchered at every Superbowl?

Yes. It's called hiring pop singers for that miniscule ratings boost even though those people don't really practice to sing it well.

I thought that last year or something had an opera trained singer (turned some grammy singer person) sang it legitimately

I'm pretty sure they already haunt a bunch of them. At least, I have to assume they're haunting the Washington Redskins. And maybe the KC Chiefs.

The deeper I go into the TES "lore" community the more I find it a bunch of pretentious, pseudo-philosophical, pseudo-Gnostic, cult-like, elitist, post-modern silliness. I guess that's really harsh and abrasive, and I have better things to rant about, but it makes me not want to like TES. However, since I don't want to start going on a nerdrage (and boy TES nerdrage flame wars are just... well, they are what they are), I'll just play Skyrim and Oblivion and beat things up to make myself feel better.

EDIT: In a way, I guess a lot of really hardcore fandoms are like this?

Why do you play a game that does not feature the Byzantine Empire?

I stayed up until 6 am again :(

But doing so is the only way I can manage, I am a vampire, cannot stay awake during the day.

Man, I'm definitely real sick of the TES lore flamewars and elitism, I really should stop reading all that gibberish. I mean I thought the Stormcloaks vs. Empire debates were bad, but at least those were relatable in a way. Now I think I undertsand what people mean when they talk about hatedoms and hardcore fan anarchy with franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars and what not.

I think I'll just stick with looking up pretty screenshots of Cyrodiil and what not from now on. Nice, down to earth stuff. Oblivion definitely has some relaxing scenery.

Why do you play a game that does not feature the Byzantine Empire?

The Empire in TES is, er, close enough. :(

I mean especially in Skyrim when they're a vestigal Empire in the decline and on the offensive. :(

So, er... in Skyrim, Empire = ERE, Thalmor = Saracens/Turks, and Stormcloaks = Papist heretics? :mischief:

Trains between Utrecht and Amsterdam have been completely shut down due to technical issues at Utrecht (where, as it turns out, I am needed), so I am unable to go to my work!

Fortunately, I am mature enough to not blame it on the privatisation of the railways, since that, well, never happened here!

It was the communists. Duh. They wanna paint the moon pink with Lenin's face. The trains are the first step.
