I have started a new roleplaying game here on CFC.. but I need the usual crew to login and sign up to get started!

I would but I'm hopelessly lost in LOTRO running a kin and all so don't have time.

Oh I don't know, maybe because people view child mortality and complications as undesirable?! :gripe:

Well, I'm no expert on giving birth, even less about giving birth in the US, but the "drivel" seems to be about using those measures even when there is no need for them. Medication and incisions for example are far from being necessary in every case. If they are effctive and used so widely in the US, I wonder why you are in the same league with Cuba and Belarus in child mortality rate.

Yes, they aren't needed all the time. However, the article insinuates that even those who need it are enslaved by a technological society. Trust me, keep reading and you'll see choice statements like this:

As soon as I got hooked up to the monitor, all everyone did was stare at it. The nurses didn't even look at me anymore when they came into the room--they went straight to the monitor. I got the weirdest feeling that it was having the baby, not me.

This statement illustrates the successful conceptual fusion between the woman's perceptions of her birth experience and the technocratic model.
I didn't know monitoring the baby's vital signs to ensure a safe birth was forcing a woman to worship technology. The idea that I had to study this seriously forced me to drop this course.

Oh, and one more thing. That list you gave? Can you please indicate where most of the developed nations in the world ended up?

The internet was down in a 10 - 12 block area around my parent's house, so I couldn't come online right away when I got here at 3 pm, instead of the usual 7pm.

The hot water heater in the house keeps turning itself off, and every day my dad has to relight it. Sometimes three times a day.

I have to take a shower tomorrow.

:gripe:

HL2 Episode 2 keeps bugging up and not letting me get past the sort-of-cutscene at the beginning of the level "Our Mutual Fiend."

Today was my first day at work in the last 3 weeks. I took a nice long vacation.

All the crap I didnt deal with over those 3 weeks came back to hit me all at once.

First hour on the shift involved chasing down a guy who just walked out of the store with 400$ of alcohol (we have some expensive one-time-buy liquor thats like 100$/bottle.)
In case any of you say that I shouldnt have chased this guy down, the company will cover us if there's any legal action against us and our store afterwards. The corporate policy is that shoplifting and LP is in the head manager's discretion. The head manager we have now is not as hardball as the previous one (He nearly tackled a little old lady that was making off with 130$ of vitamins) but he still does not tolerate it.

3 of the 7 registers went down at about 7, so my supposedly relaxing hour-long stint on register 4 turned into a mad house of chaos, with a cacophony of "Sorry" in the air and a bunch of customers ticked off at having to wait for 15 minutes in a line after the holidays (15 minutes is about 3x as long as we go for)

9pm was marked by a smell of burning plastic in the air as a quarter of our freezers went down due to overheating. Someone dropped a pen in one that then proceeded to snap into two and lock up 2 out of the 4 fans in the freezers. We also subsequently discovered that not opening the freezer covers for a year to clean out the ice build up results in a block of ice about 4" thick covering the whole catch pan. While the block is there, no one can access the fans underneath. I spent the hour heating up water in the demo kitchen and sticking the chisel into the oven to heat it up to get the ice out. This thing was extremely dense as it was a very slow-growing ice.

Finally at 10pm or so we cracked the ice enough to get at the fan. Turns out that the pen somehow managed to force one of the fans at such an angle that it actually damaged the bearings on it. How a plastic bic pen does this I do not know, but it did it. So not we have to call out a technician to replace the whole fan assembly, and that it has to be done tonight if we plan on selling any frozen entrees in the next day. The tech gets there at about 11, and 10 minutes later he's done. hooray! We turn it on and the freezer doesnt freeze. The fan's still not going because the tech missed some burned out wiring. 30 minutes later he's got it all replaced and the freezer is working.

Now one of our midnighters called out sick. So its just me and a manager that are staying till 12. Half the people who were scheduled till 11 stayed to 11:30 thank the gods. Through some herculean effort we manage to finish everything by 12, only 30 minutes later than usual.

Im going to need another vacation if tomorrow is anything like that.

Strange, I did not have that happened to me.

No one understands me and misinterpret my language. When I say one thing, another person interperates it to be another.

That's your fault though isn't it, you could just be more plain in your speech and body language.

Perhaps you are Aspergers, and pretty much mostly incapable of reading emotion, irony and so on?

It's seems as though, screwing up is something I'm really good at.

I'd get the gold medal.

I can understand this.

I can't speak for CivGeneral but often there's very little one could do to improve, even without Aspergers (I think I may have it, but I've never bothered to check) due to personal circumstances, social experiences (or lack of), past guilts, mistakes, etc. It takes a lot of courage to overcome these, courage which I've found I seriously lack.

That is not his fault, more so the perception of society's.

We aim to please. :hatsoff:

Ah, no worry. If you stumble upon something cool, I would appreciate it if you post in this thread. We can also discuss the pictures themselves. But not too much of course. ;)

Anyway, more eclipse pictures. (I would have preferred them with a landscape, but oh well.)

I should be getting that, god damn it! [pissed]
