North Carolina has banned smoking in all restaurants and bars effective today
What is this nonsense? What is the harm of a smoking section in a restaurant? What right does the government have to interfere with the running of private businesses eh?

I found out about this when I returned for Christmas. I was extremely surprised. I am against this sort of regulation, but have to admit (I live in Cali which has such a ban) that it is nice to come home from a night out not smelling like an ash tray.

Maryland did it a year or two ago. Its nice for a non-smoker to be able to go out to a bar and not be choked out of it, but I admit that smoking in a bar has a certain *charm* to it, for lack of a better word.

I have the exact same problem but 9am is even too late for me that is a pro time to sleep. I sleep by 6am and get up at 3pm. Now I have to radically change my sleep clock tommorow and get to bed a full 8 hours earlier than usual

Secondhand smoke can affect people throughout a room, even if there is some minimal division. As an asthmatic, I know this all too well, and was thrilled when the buckeye state passed a similar measure.
Rant: School tommorow, and I've barely started my break homework.
Then you must stay inside your house and live in a bubble when you go out because car exhaust has the same impact and dust, and I suppose cat fur, and pollen.

Eh, touche. Still, if you can regulate something to improve people's health(Not nessicarliy smokers, but those who don't want secondhand smoke., I see no reason not to. Illegalizing auto exhaust would be a tad impractical though. Same with cats and flowers.

Crazy chain of coincidences. SIX events happened over the course of 7 days... and if ANY of those hadn't happened, or had simply happened at a different freaking time, everything would be alright now. I can't believe it. Ten wasted days!! Ten damned wasted days!! And yesterday I had the chance to make it all good, and I unknowingly passed it up! If only I would have taken a damn taxi and went out to the center of my city at 2 AM, like someone asked me to, it would have been all good now. Unbelievable. My mere presence would have fixed it all. And I almost did it! It just made more sense at the time not to do it, I couldn't have possibly known what it would lead to... I have myself to blame for the first event... and the fact that I could have done something to prevent the last one from happening (although I had absolutely no way of knowing) makes it all so terribly worse! Six unrelated events that caused all this...... I am so disappointed about so many things and so many people.
