Was contacted by the publisher to be part of a festival and present some of my own unpublished story-work.. I suppose this is a very clear prelude to having a book with their house

(unless i mess things up utterly, of course ).

Looks like this will be a major break for me lit-wise. Comes in a week, and just one day after my first lib seminar in a different library with pay.

The supermarket where I do my girlfriend's grocery shopping has instituted a policy of unloading the cart onto the belt for the customers. They already have the absolute best meat department and deli service I have ever encountered, and courtesy clerks bagging groceries of course, but this is a new height of 'service orientation'. I am impressed.

I had a very good weekend.

Which is surprising to me, as it's not like everything even went perfectly. Or even some bad stuff or monotony (7+ hours of driving). But just the type of 2-day period where I felt, "yea, that was refreshing."

Let's keep things livable for 3 months!

Just did my yearly background check on myself to see how much of my information is out there for anyone to get, and I am proud to say that I am pretty well concealed. Just about the only things you can get on me are my name, birthday, and a very old email address that I haven't used in about 15 years.

I do this because I hear horror stories about people searching for themselves and finding all kinds of juicy details about themselves easily available for anyone who might look for it. Things like bank accounts, arrest records, asset holdings, online dating profiles, etc. Thankfully none of that comes up on me. So it looks like either I am practicing awesome data security, or everyone else is just doing an absolute piss-poor job of securing their information.

Probably both. I don't think the horror stories you describe happen to everyone every day, for most people it's probably only drunk facebook fotos, or something on a similar level.
But a for good data hygiene.


And also had a good weekend .
Nice Friday evening in a bar with some friends, also on Saturday (not as long, as good, and less people, but still), and a good basketball match yesterday with drinks afterwards. That's how I like it .

So. How do I go about doing a background check on myself?

And how have you managed to conceal your address? Do you not appear on the electoral register at all?

There comes a point where concealing one's identity can backfire. At some point we do want to be able to prove to people that we who we say we are, and we generally do this with information that's in the public domain, don't we?

Or maybe I'm missing what you're actually saying here.

This was "just" one-day cricket World Cup, though.

Apparently (I wouldn't know, having very little interest in any sport), England just doesn't have a significant one-day cricket league necessary in order to develop the skills for that particular speciality.

I think I like the idea of cricket, though. What other games are there that you can play for 5 days and not get a result from - not even a draw?
