Random Raves X: Success Tactics

Had a nice time with my GF and some people :) It made my otherwise stupid Friday great.

ALSO!!!

SPORTLOV HOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

(sportlov - sport break, basically a Swedish break originating from WW2 when they were forced to make schoolchildren stay home to save energy that would've otherwise been spent on heating schools. After the war, it was so popular they kept it.)

1 week off :D

I was under the impression history degrees were bachelor's Arts degrees, not science.

They can be either, depending on the track you take. They are both a liberal art and a social science.

Incidentally, I was on the BA track, but was misinformed about how many years of a foreign language I needed (I was told two semesters, but it was in fact two years), and discovered the mistake too late to change it. So, a BS I got instead.

:woohoo: !!! Same rave as above

Ah, that's what this is about. Silly Swedes...had never heard of that though. Well for me that's specifically not a rave...;)

However, having (successfully I believe) gotten through another midterm today and it generally being Friday, and looking forward to the weekend is cause for excitement, as well as USA hockey, so :D

I bs'd my way to an A+ on my Traditional India paper...alright!

There's nothing better than turning in an essay thinking it was the worst thing you'd ever written...only to receive an absolutely stupendous grade for it!

There's nothing better than doing that if you're only talking about things you do to not do much work in school.

One half of two day drinking spree done.

Parents away for the weekend; had friends over for a pre-uni thing.

Which sounds a lot more exciting than it actually was, given that I'd asked my parents, and that most of my friends that came aren't really drinkers. But it was certainly fun nonetheless.

I saw Avatar 3D with my dad.

Overall, it was "good".

The only thing bad was how cliché it was at some parts. Like the scientists' elitism; that Grace dudette kept calling the protagonist a ****** for being a marine (not that the marines were anything beyond trigger-happy, violent beasts).

Also, that the villain (the military dude) really, really had a deep hatred for the natives for no real good reason bothered me. Yes, I understand that he's a mercenary and just wants his ca$h but it's still kind of unrealistic, as if their very existence was a personal insult to him.

Otherwise, it had some "depth" and Pandora was interesting. The 3D thing was cool too.

2/2 of days of ebing fully drunk. Was fully awesome.

Well, his face got f'ed up by residents of the planet. I imagine that's a pretty good reason to want to get back at it any chance you get. Overall, though, I'd have to agree that most of the characters were rather contrived...

Receiving a crash course in social benefits from a punter at work today. Figured out that I would be about as well off getting the dole and rent allowance and renting a flat whilst at home this summer rather than living with my parents and working minimum wage 30 - 35 hours a week. This welfare thing may have something to it.

Winning a string of victories against the pile of work which threatens to swallow my next few weeks.

I could say the same about eating, but that doesn't make food any less delicious . . .
Yes, but ultimately it's the nonbiological rewards that make you feel the best. Yes, that juicy steak tasted good, but my blood vessels and my sense of guilt will suffer for it.
