So I will probably be unemployed this summer.

Rave: For my International Studies major I had to take a short pre-test that had some questions from the foreign service exam for department statistics and with the exception of two questions which were strictly fact based (such as what the feedback between government and media is called) I either knew the answer or got tripped up by poor question wording. One of the questions was about the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and East Germany-I overthought it and chose Hungary but the exact literal wording of the question was East Germany.
Plus I got to have a nice conversation with my advisor about research opportunities and I think I impressed her with relating the Suez Canal Crisis and the Hungarian Uprising along with the circumstances surrounding the overthrow of Mossadeq.
Plus I got my first choice for Econ advisor.

That should be a rant.

Eh, it kind of was but I was explaining stuff because someone asked me a question here. Actually no, it's not a rant. I have options and my worst case scenario is that I will have a summer to relax for once. I'll be slightly poorer for it, but I've come to realize that the final step on the path of adulthood is when you realize that your time is far more valuable than money. A summer off won't bankrupt us and in any case I likely could avoid it either through classes or finding a summer job.

I won't resign myself to thinking that a few months of unemployment will break my spirit. Quite the contrary - eff this job market; I will succeed.

So the UK just got crossed off my list of places to visit.

Seriously though, you can't buy it in the stores and you can't find a resteraunt that will add vanilla to your coke? Try asking them sometime and offer to pay extra if that's an issue. It works maybe a quarter of the time here for places that don't list it on the menu.

There's one place that I know of that sells vanilla coke. It's in the town centre and it's an American shop; all its products are imported from America. Normally, for some reason unbeknownst to me, normal shops do not stock coke of the vanilla variety.

That, plus caffeine, st. john's wort and an eff the world mindset after having screwed up my own life and hitting rock bottom emotionally and financially.

And CivGeneral, I promise it's not magic either. I have applied for 20 or so Boeing jobs, a couple of Lockheed positions and talked to 20+ employers at the job fair and all I got was one single interview and no firm offers. Thats not a magic track record.

But screw them, it's their own damn problem if they can't spot talent when it walks up to them.
