Question for Spanish, Portuguese, or Moroccans if we have any - is this as much of a potential bloodbath as it seems?
We actually have a Persian poster and you leave him out?

Pffft. Morocco still hasn't kicked the Spanish off its own shores so they don't count either. We might as well have them all fight it out.

Developing a language, or other form of expression, that cannot - willingly, or by accident - be misunderstood, or misread, or misinterpreted would probably create the biggest jump in social progress that ever happened.

If you knew about synchronic and diachronic linguistics you'd know that that is, by definition, impossible.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Within the framework of a medium that is built around putting words, or another form of "information" out in the world that another actor then has to perceive and interpret, maybe, but surely that gap can be breached? How about a device that gets familiar with your language(-and thought?)-patterns and is able to translate it into a "neutral" language, that it than transfers to the intended receiver of the information, for whom it is then translated into words that, for him, mean the same thing.

That's of course very sci fi - and highly disturbing - but I don't see anything that would prevent us from breaching the gap eventually.

I just remembered I have a partly prosthethic tooth

It's kinda freaking me out a bit

I just remembered I have a partly prosthethic tooth

I have the Tooth of Theseus - it's been filled so much now that the dentist says that it's essentially just filling now, but it's still a tooth, right?

The problem is that different words mean different things for different people. Everybody can agree on what a stone or a tree is, but once you get into abstract concepts, everyone has their own definition.
Try getting a socialist and a righ-wing libertarian to agree on what "freedom" means. You can try to come up with dozens of different words for dozens of different interpretations of freedom, but there are still going to be disagreements on which word is the right one in any given context.
Even if you succeed and create a logical language, it will quickly be corrupted with abbreviations, metaphors and figures of speech because humans just love those.

Take out the filling and use the tooth to smuggle diamonds.

Not sure I like the use of the word "corrupted" here. It implies that modifying a language is a bad thing, which it certainly is not. Especially when those modifications are made to streamline the language and make it more efficient to speak.

As long as there has been language, it has been changing. And as long as there has been humans, they have complained about it.

In another airport bar, drinking another beer before 8am. Again.

And also when it doesn't change; the sort of people who get upset by neologisms are with an almost 1:1 ratio the same sort of people get upset by the survival of traditional dialects, or even entire languages. Failing to adopt a novel but "correct" language is as much an offense as straying from it.

I remember well the day I figured out that grammar Nazism is counterrevolutionary.

Seriously tho it does tend to be allied with reactionary politics of one sort or another.
