Ooooh thank you for such a lovely idea! I also feel going to my gym is so incredibly boring, even listening to music, but finding some kind of martial arts class seems marvelous and would be so much more exciting. And I've been feeling I need some sort of self defense class anyway, and another thing about my gym is I'm pretty much forced to wear socks (oh how I hate them) and from what I understand that shouldn't be an issue for me. Thank you! I'm going to start looking around today and maybe cancel my gym membership.

Try Tae Kwon-do. It's not quite as difficult to master as Kung Fu or Karate (Less rules, I'm told), it's fun, and it's a very good workout. You also learn some fierce self defense techniques. Good luck in your search.

When you see heavily made up women in spandex hanging around the muscle-y guys lifting weights, it's pretty obvious what they are doing. And the creepy women in the change rooms. I once had one get into the shower with me. Maybe I just went to a bad gym, but jeez...

As someone who doesn't go to the gym, that sounds like an awesome gym. Of course if you go to work out and run into this constantly I can certifiably see how it might be rant-worthy.

Well, I was assuming it was more of a communal shower, actually not focused on that part at all, moreso the earlier post about hookups and drugs, and half-kidding.

Well, I was assuming it was more of a communal shower, actually not focused on that part at all, moreso the earlier post about hookups and drugs, and half-kidding.

Private stalls with three walls and a shower curtain on the front. It's pretty easy to just walk in on someone, and it did happen accidentally once in a while. No harm, no foul. Occasionally a pair of women would "shower" together, which the staff would have to break up if it was reported.

All in all, it was a pretty sleazy place.

I go to Planet Fitness, it's really casual and huge, and about 2/3rds of the people there are women. I've never been bothered by anyone, no one's even ever said anything to me, I just go in and do my thing and then I leave. I'd be mortified to have experiences like @Lemon Merchant.

I've looked up taekwondo in my area and I've reached out to a place that has morning and evening classes, and they let you try for free, so I think I'm going to see if that'll work for me.

There are a few jokes like that in the game. Like little Easter eggs. One of the asteroids in a system was named C3P0 once.
