Realpolitik II - Dark Storm Rising

Thank you. Now to yell at it. :p

The main problem I have with the Plan is your proposed Tech Path. If I am seeing things right, then there are large numbers of resources that we don't currently have the tech level to improve, like fish, Deer, and Cows. We need to get these techs more than we need to get Iron Working. AH, trapping, and fishing should be our priorities now, to imorove our production base. (and the lives of our people thinking IC) Iron and war can be persued at a later point, after we have the production required to tackle these things. (note: I dunno how much prod we need for a war)

I'm not against the regime, I just want MOAR INFORMATION!

The Plan:

Tech Path:
Calendar -> Bronze Working -> Iron Working

SP Path:
Honor

Build Priority List:
1. A Settler. Settle him at a spot to be determined.
2. Two workers. One for New York, and one for Washington
3. 1 Scout
4. 1 Warrior to Upgrade to a Swordsman
5. 1 Spearman after BW researched
6. Monuments
7. Barracks

Worker Builds Priorities:
1. Plantations on New York Cotton and Silks
2. Farms
3. Mines

Diplomacy (What Friendship Level We Should Maintain):
Dakota City State- Friendy (Neutral if We Find Other CSs)
Aztecs- Neutral
Iroquois- Friendly
Maritime City States- Friendly
Cultural City States- Neutral
Militaristic- Neutral

Economic Priorities:
1. Buying the Cotton Hexes
2. City-States (1. Maritime, 2. Cultural, 3. Militaristic)
3. Any Other Resource Hexes

As I stated above: That tech path seems to be focusing on the wrong thing. Rather than improving peoples Livelihoods, you are building up for military action, just as we said you would. If war is not to be your first awnser, then prove it by not planning a war set-up from the moment you arrive in office.

The People deserve an improvement in their livelihoods, and the most efficiant way to do that is developing new Resources, and ensuring a productive base on which later administrations can build. The first President should lay the foundations of the nation, and this plan places far to much emphasis on Iron Working for that.

Opposing Stuff :trouble:

It is my wish that a compromise happens. I think that DTs overall point is sound, although perhaps he is asking for too much of a concession. Horizons obviously wants to put us on a war footing, but we need the base of an empire to do that. Here is my idea for a compromise:

Calender-AH(animal husbandry correct?)-bronze working. Right now, I the best thing to do is make sure we have advancd units to defend ourself with, while ensuring the continued growth of the country and improved livelihood of the people. Next administration, IW may be considered.

All for this compromise?

OOC: I think that the best compromise may be that the next administration guaruntees that it will research Iron Working regardless of which Coalition it comes out of. If we do, then we'll have the two resources uncovered that will be the only ones until coal that matter (looking ahead in terms of the game, if we get that far).

Also, nice location Tambien :goodjob:. Virginia is the best.

I don't think such a promise could realistically made at this time, although I think most people would agree that that would be fair.

The Aryan compromise seems to have prevailed!

Hmm...it seems that I've missed about 10 pages of new development.

As long as I've not been assassinated, I'm good :D

If we were just all about WAR WAR WAR, why on Earth would we research Calendar?

I know our primary focus is war, but with Calendar, we can make lots of jobs with cotton pickers and dye factories. I think the current plan is fine.

:D

Big Brother State Future
Well well, after leaving it awhile no information about moves on the assassins guild have been made. Can we take this as precedent that the Administration is grandfathering in the independent rights of parties and refusing to start a history of party genocide for minimal reasons?

Military State
The plan is what you would expect from a military coalition. If anyone is unhappy with it that voted for the coalition you should have bullied for more details before voting. Communists pushed expansion, Militarists pushed build up and eventual conquering of rival lands.

I take it from the "friendly levels" list that the Administration would most like to target the Aztecs as the eventual victims?

Aryan Compromise
Seems good.

Sparthage's counter proposol can't be worked... we don't even know what the coalitions could look like next election so who would you ask to support this Iron move? If all but one person agreed and then that person won the election... well you see the point. The most you could ask for would be your biggest rivals the Communists agreeing to it and hoping they get enough influence in any counter coalition that it would be honoured.

Current Events
Assassins Guild - Still no word
Administration Plan - Still in progress, basic draft has been published
Quest - Led by Arya with picked volunteers to go to New Orleans to find more information on "it". (Word of warning participants have a chance of being killed while questing which would lose them the ability to hold positions and make actions)
Public Questers who wish to go
Red Spy
Tambien
Southern King
Celtic Fury
Aysee
Aoudis

The administration plan sounds okay to me, with the exception of the Tech Tree and the Social Policy tree. It would benefit America better if we pursued the earlier techs, like what Dem Taqat said, as it would help improve the livelihoods of the people better. Also, it seems that you are placing emphasis on war and Honour right now, and that is the wrong route to go. Instead, a route of pursuing Liberty and an emphasis on expansionism right now would benefit America greatly. If we are to crush our enemies, we crush them only when our own needs are settled.

One quick question. Do our characters gain control over any of the resources like mines, plantations, farms, etc? That way they fall under the control of "private" industry, and the govt would have to request the use of the goods before selling, building an army, etc. Just a thought.

No, your thinking more along the lines of feud. It would be a cool addition to RP, though I don't think LH wants that extra hassle.

Not to mention it's ultrahard to track in CiV compared to CivIV+AND.

Ilduce did something like this in the Civ4 Stories and tales Forum a few months back. As far as I saw, It didn't really work out. I am against doing it in RP, both because its to complex, and it doesn't make sense when we are the Government. There is no real point from a story view of our characters going into the Provate sector, particularly as most people seem to beleive in either War or Socialism. :mischief:

@NC- "The Sinews of war are Infinate money." :smoke:

@Tambien- Thank you for your Support. :thanx:

@Sparthage- I would not be willing to make that promise, and I think it is far to early to plan the tech path for the Next term. :dubious:

@Yoshiegg- Then you're good! :D

@Ravus- I think its more along the lines of we're argueing about other things now than we've forgotten you. But the fact that the Admin seems split on your party is probably the main thing. I expect they're argueing amongst themselves doing a 'Unity.' :p

Unfortunately your assesment of the plan is accurate. People voted for the Horizons coalition when they said 'we're not all about the war,' and anybody who voted for them has only themselves to blame. Don't say we didn't warn y'all. :smug:

@LordNwahs- I agree. Completely. :cooool:

@Arya(n Compromise)- Your compromise Prevailed? The only person who had commented on it then was the President! :rotfl:

That said, I could accept that compromise. I still think it is unnecesarily Militarized, but BW does have economic uses, so it's not Terrible.

I like the Aryan compromise, but we should go with liberty over Honor.

Compromise is good. All the party leaders should promise to research IW first regardless of which coalition wins.

The early Honor policies arent' that great... But the later ones are better than later Liberty. It's basically a toss-up between which style of playing we want to go this turn: Expansion or Military.

@Aysee- Party leaders shouldnt do anything like that. If IW is the best choice to research next term, then the president then shall research it. But we have no idea what circumstances will appear between now and then...

I also urge friendly relations with everyone, most particularly these:
1. Aztecs
2. Iroqoius
3. Any Maritime City States.
