RR2- No Worker Paradise

Ad hoc post has something below radar that I'm not sold to: early war. We want those nice guys to expand and lay down some cottages and roads before we kill them :p . Because of that there is no hurry to pump axes out IMHO , besides self protection ( this is noble, ppl :p ). Or there are other reasons for pumpimg axes that I'm not seeing?

Besides that IMHO we should start thinking on what we want from this map. Obviously we should let the jungle alone until the AI get to IW and clean it up for us :D , buthow about the rest? I like the idea of going to the jumbos, but I admit that is a big big step..... no dot mappers around here ( I think that most of you already know my adversion to doing dotmaps :p )

Gooblah, nice idea but i think I'll pass that one... it is pretty cheesy :p

As I said in my last post, I'm against cheesy AI rushing. That getting-copper-connected-gambit is something else which we might actually do.

I have no time whatsoever for playing civ until in 2 weeks (!) so I'd be happy to be swapped. Sorry for the late notice...

as Mysty wants a skip i'll pick it up, i'll most probably play thursday evening so it'll still give a chance for some discussion.

i'll do a Dot map tonight :)

I think having nothing but warriors for any significant amount of time is just asking to lose to some random invasion, be it barbarian or orange. Even on noble. The "straight to elephants" gambit is interesting, but seems risky to me.

Look Rolo a dot map

i had a quick look at the map last night and without further investigation i think the three marked spots are possible city locations all with advantages and disadvantages.

Red: settle on the silk for extra happy and clam gives extra food.

Blue: settle on copper for axes etc, when borders pop can use corn for extra food but lots of jungle

Yellow: settle on elephants for extra happy and jumbo's, when borders pop can use cows for extra food and looks like a flood plain to SE. plains hill to SW but again lots of Jungle.

if we don't settle the copper we ought to research archery for the protective archers pretty quickly.

i'll play tonight and unless someone has a better idea will continue with Myst for the henge

I like those cities, and I like them in that order. The only exception is that I'd like another city settled between blue and yellow -- we won't need phants immediately after axes, and settling on the river dye to the west of yellow will help us block off the continent and just be a generally good city.

Those cities look good.

Looking foreward to the next set(s) and who we'll meet.

Some (long-term) notes:

Let's not settle too many cities but have the AI settle (and improve) them for us.

We should consider eventually buying :)-resources or at least trade for them (via seafood most likely). This makes coastal cities even more important.

Try to scout westwards as well. If there is no one we can peacefully backfill there (which leaves those cities unimproved forever ).

i'm going to have a look around the red dot first as at least with the clam it will grow reasonably quick,

Willem is down to the bottom left of the map, you can't see it on the map but there is a little bit of his border ( i assume its his as its orange) showing. i think leaving all the jungle for him to clear may be the best idea.

techs - myst then sailing

builds - finish warrior - work boat - henge

^^We can't clean jungle :p

I think I'm having trouble with that map (is it not the default theme?) -- it looks to me like settling the dye would give a dye, a jungle/dye, and a few forests/grasslands. If that's not what's there...all bets are off.

Sorry Guys i was taken ill on thursday and had to spend couple days in hospital with no internet.

back home now, though i might be skipped but as it seems not just a quick report.

continued scouting to north east, myst in

oh and the save

Seems like we get a city on ivory and silk/sugar (dunno which it is).

Definitely not settle on the FPs, let Just cottage them up first.

I think I'm losing my mind. Resource flags are very obviously on in that last screenshot (delicious elephant city!), but yet I swear I see an unflagged resource (stone?) in the lower-right. Am I hallucinating?

Well, on my pc (at least) all resource tags on the bottom of the screen disappear (here stone is in the 2nd from the bottom). This happens always on the main screen, not related to taking a screenshot tough.

For some reason I can't open the save right now, but I'll get it tomorrow.

Things to do:

Build the big stone thingy.

Start research towards construction.

Sound about right?
