[RD] Russia Invades Ukraine: Eight

As the outcome becomes clearer, the number will grow rapidly. In a year, they'll probably report 10 millions or so.
source ?

I just read an article (paywalled and in Czech) about a dedicated guy who managed, from open sources, identify over 5000 Russian officers KIA in Ukraine. Since only fraction could be identified this way, real number is likely to be several times more. Given that, and that we're only talking about officers and not enlisted troops which form the vast majority of those deployed and killed, or irregulars like the Donbas militias, the numbers floated around by western sources-around 200k killed and 700k wounded-seem more than plausible.

Those are no talks, it's a show.

As the outcome becomes clearer, the number will grow rapidly. In a year, they'll probably claim 10 millions of Russian losses or so.
still no source for that ?

do you believe that ?

Source for what exactly? Did you understand the message?

There is an estimation of almost 1 million casualties for Russia, half a million for Ukraine, you attempt to make those numbers irrational has to be backed by some kind of analyse, or is it complete BS because you can't deny the estimations ?

I don't have to refute these estimations, you have to prove they are trustworthy. According to your link, these estimations come from British MoD without any sources or explanation of methodology how they were determined, and closely correspond to the numbers coming from Ukraine's officials, which are the side of the conflict and by definition cannot be trusted on that matter.

It's a show, another source, confirming a new offensive has started:

that would be a middle finger to the US if they were wanting peace, and that would entice a reaction, they just pretend to talk.

see, no need for strawmen. What's the Russian estimation for Ukrainian losses ? 1 million ? half ?

This article is about Russia claiming to capture Ukrainian village near border with Kursk region, and Ukraine denying Russia's claims. 6 days ago.
How this suppose to demonstrate that representative of US government came to Russia just for the show is beyond me.

that would be a middle finger to the US if they were wanting peace
Does this also apply to the recent Ukrainian incursion in Belgorod region?

yet another round of "No talks about Ukraine without Ukraine" is a show, yes, what else can it be ?.

incursion, compared to full scale offensive and targeting civilians, so false equivalence, as usual.

it can be that US representative spoke with Putin for almost 5 hours, and they actually discussed some substantial matters. Absolutely wild, unrealistic idea, I know.

claim about full scale offensive backed with no sources, as usual.
as for targeting civilians, there are tons of reports about Ukraine doing that in Kursk region, some of them I provided earlier.

Every war always ve very careful about casualty figures. They're usually always inflated.

Russian might not even know exact numbers of their own casualties either due political pressure or no one bothered counting. Eg 5000 dead, 100k missing (or 75k or 200k etc).

after 2 months without advances in Ukraine to retake most of Kursk, Russia have now captured settlements in Ukraine without going back on the offensive. Yeah, sure.

about targeting civilians, there is still no equivalence in numbers. I wish there was an equivalence, one based on the Russian civilian casualties, would mean thousands of lives would have been saved.

"captured settlements" or "full scale offensive"?
And if captured settlements qualify as "middle finger to the US if they want peace", we are going back to Ukraine's recent attack in Belgorod.

captured settlements in a full scale offensive, like there was settlements captured in the previous one, while Pokrovsk was not, neither Chasiv-yar.

scale of an offensive is from the intensity, not the result.

incursion in Kursk was more successful than the full scale counter-offensive of 2023.

and the objectives are also different, Ukrainians incursions are not about conquering territories.

the only Russia's full scale offensive in last two months happened in Kursk, and was successful.
Ukraine's attacks were smaller in scale only because they don't have resources to organize anything bigger.
most importantly, all this by no means supports the claim that talks between Putin and US envoy was just a show.
