Sad misconceptions in todays world!

The USA engages in imperialism. Again, nope.
America does engage in Imperialism, it's just that you hide it with words like "bringing freedom" which assumes certain groups are not enlightened enough to gain such freedom without the white man's help.

Examples: Iraq, Aghanistan, Chile, Cuba, etc.

There is also economic hitmanship:

And this thread is doomed, because people must always bring ideology into it.

Heh, since there were several other prime examples in this thread way prior to mine, not sure why you choose mine to quote. :mischief:

Another sad misconception:

That being part of a majority opinion on an internet gaming site forum means anything or somehow makes those opinions legitimate. ;)

Association Football ever was or ever will be a tenth of the game that Rugby Football is
And that's why you couldna beat us last time

That either the worker or the boss is more important than the other

That wages are slavery or unfair even though you consent to them

That religion has a place in government

That one is true. The older you get, the more you realise that it is a true stament, not a misconception.

Some parents beat their kids. Some reject them for their personal identity, be it atheist or gay. Some parents are complete idiots who do not comprehend the meaning of the "M" label on videogames. Some parents are drunks who don't give a damn about their kids.

All this taken into consideration, no, the parents are not always right. The key word being always. They are good for a source of discipline and advice, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're infallible. They are human, just like you. No years of experience will change that.

Yes!!! You've finally accepted it!

You should be a reporter. :mischief:

Anything with a chemical name is bad for you.

There was a joke about this on the game Evil Genius. This one Mad Scientist lady likes to say, "Dihydrogen monoxide!" It sounds like an evil chemical, but in reality, she's just saying "water."

I've heard of him, and he still never made a successful recorded airplane flight until after the Wright Brothers did theirs, even though admittedly, his first flight was much more impressive.

(Not a misconception) Santos Dumont's flight didn't need to be pushed off a hill! :smug:

Misconception:
*The Conservatives in Britain are helping the economy.

That being part of a majority opinion on an internet gaming site forum means anything or somehow makes those opinions legitimate. ;)

1. Opinions are always legitimate
2. The validity of an opinion is never determined by how many people hold that opinion

Anything with a chemical name is bad for you.

Fun fact: Everything is toxic in a high enough dose. Also every substance that is considered normally toxic is harmless in a low enough dose.

1: That Vaccinations lead to autism.
2: That 9/11 was a hoax.
3: That Islam is a bunch of psychos.

I think he means that it might have been staged by the US government… or allowed by them like Pear harbour in WWII. But I don't think that's the point of the thread.

That wacko conspiracy theories might possibly be true.

That Minnesota is just flyover country. (While that is partly true, it isn't just corn, hicks, and Fargo over here.)

That nudity = sexual
