Shopping Thread .. or What Did You Buy?

$100 for a single shirt? Does it give you +3 to your stats or something?

You should see my friend's "looting Robe +1 to everything" joyful reaction !

I ordered the new Celtic Woman Christmas CD that's going to be released tomorrow, and Amazon guarantees release day delivery :)

And I got a recommendation for this sweater, and had to have it, so I bought that too (also coming in tomorrow)

I decided to get an early start on calendars for next year. I usually buy these at the kiosk in the mall (every year there's a vendor selling calendars and games), but there's a risk that they might be sold out or not have what I wanted:

I also get a Thomas Kinkade calendar every year. There are several available, so it's going to be hard to narrow it down. It's too bad we can't customize them with the pictures we like.

I bought a couple of bikinis for the beach this February. The sales girl was trying to sell me a couple that looked like dental floss but I resisted and bought more sensible ones instead. I bought a nice one piece too.

I'm not looking forward to the waxing, though.

Bikini in Nova Scotia during the height of winter. Brave. :p

That's when the price is right , during the height of summer they would skyrocket ;)

I bought 2 pairs of jeans yesterday, to replace my old ones that ripped open in the crotch last spring. I've been getting by on one pair of relatively tight jeans but I need one that's a little looser so I can fit layers under them when the weather gets really cold.

I ordered some silk thermals in preparation for another Winter in Chicago. (hopefully my last)

Pft ... sweet summer child.

It's funny you say this, I have fantasies of moving inside the Arctic circle because I like snow and cold so much
Come up here for a Michigan winter (meaning you'll need to leave today and go back around April or May) and see if you still like it :P

I was mostly making a comment about how in your area you're not really going to get "really cold" lol!

I would totally camp out in an ice cave in Antartica like it was Hoth. I really want to go there and would sign up for an overwinter stay if that were feasible.

LOL, I agree with you for the most part! The past couple of weeks I've been walking around in shorts and a t-shirt while most other people here are bundled up in sweaters and even scarves, which I find very amusing. But we do get "really cold" even by northern standards sometimes, thanks to the weakening Polar Vortex. On days like that, where it's well below freezing, two pairs of pants enable me to be perfectly comfortable outside.

I already know what it's like. Upstate NY isn't too different and I've experienced plenty of winter up there. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of multi-foot snowfalls in Rochester and Saratoga.

Pft, "well below freezing." :rotfl:

*gets ready for sub-zero weather in a couple months*

A couple of Decembers ago we were in Saratoga between Christmas and New Years and it was sub-zero at night, about -8 if I remember correctly, and my brother and I went for a walk after dinner, as is our habit when we're on family trips. Our parents thought we were insane

"Two pairs of pants" sounds incredibly uncomfortable. Leggings under pants are good though.

If you want the full Antarctic experience, volunteer to incubate a penguin egg. Outside, with the male Emperor penguins, who don't have cozy jackets or boots, and have to shuffle around in the -60 temperatures in their bare feet and don't get any food until the female penguins come back in a few weeks.

When I bike to work in winter I have to wear pajama pants under my jeans, otherwise it gets way too cold. Even then it's too cold.

My coworker says that he spends at least $300 dollars on every pair of pants he owns and I really don't get it. They look nice but not that nice.
