Shopping Thread .. or What Did You Buy?

After the third or so, does it really matter. ;)

Yes, it does. Cheap beer is typically less abv, usually it's light beer, so around 4-4.5 abv, but even regular bud is only 5%. Most micro brews are at least 6% unless they're a light one. You might think what's 1%? But just a 1% difference can get you drunk twice as fast due to how quickly your body metabolizes alcohol. Drinking one light beer per hour, which is what most of these tests consider a typical rate, an average male's metabolism keeps up pretty well that they don't get drunk very fast. I wouldn't drive after 3 light beers but you will definitely be in control enough to notice flavor. With a strong like 7% beer though second one and I'm done.

Miller High Life. $20 for a 30pack.

I actually do like high life, in a bottle, so not your 30 pack which I'm sure is cans. I have two cheap beer gotos: high life and rolling rock. I think they're both perfectly fine, light lagers that don't have a bad aftertaste unlike a lot of other beers. And the price point is awesome, 12 packs of bottles for like $8. Much better than the big 3 coors, bud, miller lite.

But anyway, I purchased valentine's day novelties for my daughters. An L.O.L. doll candy container with doll shaped gummies in it and a wind up pink poop emoji that walks and poops out skittles.

I try to fly with the airlines that don't charge for emergency exit seats - pretty sure Alaska didn't the last time I flew with them. I'm taller than rah, and I'm sufficiently averse to paying for ticket upgrades that if I can't get an aisle seat I'll change flights.

If I'm having that many above 3, I ain't driving regardless of the content. And my wallet will be thicker in the morning. ;)

Can confirm. I can get a bit of a buzz off beers in the 6-8% range but I hardly even notice anything below 6.

Sigh, Don't have many of them around here, so I'm usually flying American. And I fly enough that sticking to one airline helps on the free flights.

I get the impression you also have just a bit more disposable income than I do ;)

I get the same impression. ;) But at least being next to One of American's biggest hubs, I'm ALWAYS on a direct flight unless i'm flying to Egypt or Prague.

Back when I was young most British beers were about 3%. We thought Holstein Pils and Stella were really strong when they first started becoming available at 4-5%. Now theres beers available that are 10%+. You can't have a long night of drunken conversation setting the world to rights if you drink those.
I'm a big fan of what we call barbacue beers. 2.5-3%. Drink them all day, get a pleasant buzz and still walk home. So long as it tastes ok who cares how strong it is.

But I like the taste of aluminum. :p I like Rolling Rock too. But it's not cheap enough to be a daily drinker. I do get much better stuff when I travel. But it's still light (color, not calories) lagers or ales. Don't like the heavy and dark ones all that much.

It takes a fair amount of work to get a buzz on with such beers. And I almost never do anymore. The Miller has a better taste, and less aftertaste, then any of the other bottom price beers.

But I like the taste of aluminum. :p

Can't tell if serious, but, aluminum has no taste. Cans are objectively superior to bottles: you get the same amount of beer, at the same price (or sometimes even a bit cheaper), they don't take up as much space, they stack, they can be opened easily with just one hand, and, most importantly, they're completely opaque, meaning there's no risk of skunking from light-exposure.

No taste that I know of. I just like cans for the convenience with cheap beer. Better beers don't come in cans (almost all the time).

Fritos today.

I bought Chinese food for dinner tonight.

I bought Distant Worlds on the Steam sale.

Goodbye free time! :D

Ok...
My first association was "our" (i'm not in it, sadly) distant worlds.
(Yes, there are wonderful hobbsian patches.)
My second association were the concert records. With, like, jrpg music.
And then i vaguely remembered that there's this game.

Point being: We're running out of names for stuff. :)

Too much food, too much beer, too many games on sale.

I will never get this

economy class, sleep deprivation and lots of cheap carton wine. few hours later and you're there. I already feel bad for using an airplane anyway, I wouldn't want to feel bad about my wallet, too

I mean maybe if the flight was like 18 hours long I would consider upgrading to business, but for an intracontinental flight? never

I have very bad restless leg syndrome and have gone on many 12+ hour flights, but that thought didn't even cross my mind.
I just can't fly main cabin any more, even for just a flight of a few hours I find upgrading is totally worth it for me. I can't function on sleep deprivation lol, and resting for me is very difficult already. I love that relaxing and peaceful experience, and to me that's more valuable than a few hundred dollars.

My tickets that are $3,000 are for my honeymoon, and I'm not sparing any expense, lol! I'm dead set on going to Alberta (Banff specifically), and I'm spending more on my honeymoon than my wedding.

I finally pre-ordered Gathering Storm today! About time, right?
