Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

- If the AI has a big stack of many different units, you can't see the top of the list sometimes. It would be nice if either hovering over the units or the flag next to them would show a compact list with names and numbers, but ignoring stuff like promotions. It could also ignore those weaker units, that are there only 1 or 2 times (like subdued dogs and stuff) to make sure you can see the 100+ Swordman in the Stack

+1 :)

-- Units don't heal anymore when you fortify them. It is quite frustrating if you fortify them after a battle just to heal of, but witness some time later that they are killed by a weak Ambusher, just because they are still not healed

Disagree with you on this one.

If they are fortified, they are still on the field of battle. So are not recieving medical attention. If you select the heal button they will improve health.

This begs a question. If fortified, they get a defence bonus (5%) every turn up to 25%. If set to heal they should not get this bonus - as they are in a medical tent etc. Is that what happens?

I am not getting an HUD Interface with 8199 or 8200.

I have it with Vanilla BTS and A New Dawn 2.2 Rev 865 so its from C2C.

It usually means there is an error in the python. However I don't see any changes there, I have been working on the python but have not committed anything.

I re-downloaded everything and it was fixed in 8102 so it was probably on my end.

AI still do NOT expand - on deity 2nd band of homo sapiens sit in capital with 4 stone throwers, another 4 stone throwers sit on a hill near capital.

Tried starting new games with different options (eternity/deity/gigantic) (turned traits on/off, nightmare mode on/off, with/without megapack) - 2nd band of homo sapiens sit in capitals, tried running my previous games after tribalism to see if AI would expand. Nothing happens.

Guys, please can you fix this, as this is very gamebreaking bug, or at least tell me what options/difficulties let AI to expand normally?

That problem affects only the second tribe the AI get's at the game start or does this happen with all their tribes or settlers?

If it's only the second tribe they get on deity you could try another difficulty.

It wouldn't be a big problem if it was only for 2nd tribe on deity.

Loaded again and autoran for 100 turns one of my previous games - not a single city have been built.

Ill try create new game in ancient era with immortal difficulty and run it to see if AI build cities.

Playing noble, snail with "no positive traits" I can't keep up with the AI in cities or tech! Other options are

- Realistic Culture Spread
- Usable Mountains
- Advanced Diplomacy
- Advanced Espionage
- Advanced Nukes
- Barbarian Generals

edit I just discovered that I forgot to update the Bear Trainer wonder when I did all the bear buildings. It is way past my bed time now so I'll fix it tomorrow.

This is true not only for 2nd homo sapiens (they lose it early anyway often), but for Tribes too. New deity game started with 8196 SVN (alberts fix) and I gave up when I was the first one going to build a second city. Some AIs build lesser research when they have plenty of nice space around.
I play snail, normal size, Barbarian World, revolutions...
edit: one game I tried with NO traits at all, then I returned back to normal traits, same results.
They expanded pretty nicely in svn around 2 months ago with similar settings.

I'll try new game with immortal/snail settings and see how it goes.

Started new game, deity, eternity, gigantic. Turned off Scale city limits, turned on No city limits from civics.

2nd band of homo sapiens keep sitting in AI capitals.

If you use Either City Limits Options you stall the AI. With Both OFF the AI is unrestricted.

You're restricting the AI from expanding with these 2 settings yet you're complaining they don't expand within 100 turns on Eternity? Really? Think about it.

Now as for the 2nd tribe on Deity and the AI not using it, again look to City Limits (Scale or By Civics) as a hindrance.

I would suggest you try No Rev, No trait Options whatsover, and No city limits of any kind and on a faster gamespeed like Marathon. If on Deity the 2nd tribe sits in your capital for several hundred turns Then you do have a problem.

Obviously from your posts something Has changed over the last month. And the AI is not a free to settle as it was before. There have been various AI adjustments to the Settler routine over the last month. Perhaps the Modders should revisit what the code looked like around SVN 8141 vs current SVN?

Not sure how exactly those 2 options work, i was pretty sure city limits only start to count when AI has 3+ cities. Anyhow i think i turned both options off. Trying game now with immortal/snail. Game proceeds VERY fast in prehistoric with tech diffusion on.

And yes, something changed in AI behavior over last month, since i've been playing with those year or two. Problem is not with AI expanding slow, but with them not expanding at all.

It would be the most obvious problem anyhow. I'm not experiencing any issues at all with expansion now in my test run. However, that second tribe...

It strikes me that it may be possible that the backup AI for city defenders to join a settler stack isn't working to make the settler happy - perhaps its a conflict in the brokerage code. Possibilities are:
1) Because the settler is waiting on a brokerage to come through it denies the existing defensive units from assisting him.
2) Since they aren't allowed to join the Settler since he's waiting on a brokerage to come through, the defenders have too much they can do for one city before they'll be happy to answer to any unfulfilled advertisements for work.

Then there's a possibility that there's an issue with the second settler placing itself into a position where its LOOKING for work to fulfill and not finding it, perhaps because settlers can't be built yet, making it stuck until they can be?

It's going to take further evaluating.

Repeatable CTD, latest SVN. Maybe the bug is the same as strategyonly's.

edit: I noticed I uploaded a save in the start of the turn. To repeat the CTD I moved both units north-east (towards home) and ended the turn, then the game crashes during AI move.

I tried a game on immortal/nightmare, no one has got to tribalism yet and that CTD prevents me to continue, but it is interesting so far. But less challenging, I built Venus easily even when forgetting about it initially.

By the way, I looked at AIs cities in WB before in those deity games and they didn't have that 2nd band of homo sapiens, probably having already lost them and they still do not expand.

Ok... will look into the crashes as soon as I can.

You realize they don't get a free extra settler on Immortal right? And since they don't have Tribalism yet they can't have attempted to spread yet.

I got a IA auto hunt problem.

My rogue just don't attack anyone, just move around and no attacks.

Here a save in a turn before my rogue ignore a enemy unit.

The issue with the second tribe can be fixed but it still won't work if the AgressiveAI option is on. I can't see why but it looks that this option changes alot in the AI code.
