Single Player bugs and crashes v35 plus (SVN) - After the 18th of August 2014

Classic CTD, the classic being that it happens now and then and that I have no clue what it could be.
Archive contains save and minidump.

If checking and thinking that the save looks weird with income vs costs just ignore, I am trying this with ways to get the AI to develop, see what bottlenecks could be removed.

I have seen this also now.

So how did you circumnavigate the globe with rafts, if they can't enter foreign culture and can't cross oceans?

Two or three times I have been lucky and the continent I am on has spanned the world and one coast has had no foreign nations on it.

I have also done it with scouts a couple of times.
 
Went through the civilopedia and got loads of screenshots of missing text keys (they are in the tooltips). This is at r8349.

00 - 45 are subdued animals
46 - 52 are tamed bears
53 and 54 are building text

Thanks, I'll take a look.

edit I have it down to about 35. Most are the animals I have not gotten around to reviewing yet. The last two are terrain related and will need a bit of hunting to find.

It's important yes but I'm down to about 4-5 hrs of modding time per week and a huge project load, including these. So I'll try to address the crashes before getting into more bugfixes this weekend.

My work promotion has me wiped out most days - mentally exhausted Friday evening and Saturday I'm catching up on errands most of the day - Sunday is usually the only day I can get much done and even then I'm tempering things so that I can spend enough quality time with my wife to make up for some of the long hours during the week. So my priorities have shifted a little but I still feel C2C is the at the core of my focus... it's just got a bit less I can give it than we're used to is all.

I've got my first reproducible CtD save attached here. It used to CtD 2 SVN revisions earlier as well. Some background info:

1) Paris was conquered 5 turns ago and I'm in the process of getting it set up.
2) The tile northeast of Paris has a French army trying to get the city back - It consists of a Healer and 69 Battering Rams... yeah, so there's that.
3) The turn just before the save had round 1 of the French army trying to get Paris back
4) They (I think) heal for 2 turns even after this save

The CtD happens on the second turn after loading the save. The French army starts attacking Paris again, my garrison defends and around 15 1 vs 1 fights later, the game just hangs.

To reproduce, just hit the END TURN button 2 times and let battle start :)

I have circumnavigated the globe with the 5 rafts no problem. I would have done it sooner if they were unlimited.

edit even though they are recon they don't get exp from Great Hunters.
1) You would've done so faster by simply waiting for kayaks - unless it's a very small map. You would also have done so more reliably due to the foreign territory issue. And the fact that kayaks are more survivable against many animals.

2) Rafts are not recon. They are Naval Combatants. however, any units that are either recon or hunter must also be designated an Explorer so there could be some naval units with that issue.

The mini doesn't give me anything. Perhaps it came from before the last dll update and that could be why. Minis are usually about all you can use to debug a non-repeatable crash but I'm loading your game and we'll take a look under the hood and see if anything stands out as leading to the problem or catching the problem in action.

EDIT: Looks like I did find a crash case. It's not somewhere I've been tooling with so I'm not 100% sure if I'm just fixing an odd symptom or the problem itself but I think I've got it resolved anyhow.

I've looked into this and the actual point of the crash is taking place here: msvcr71.dll!7c3429c1()
If I'm not mistaken, this means we have an art issue most likely. It looks like a ram is either withdrawing or being killed but I'd think it must be a withdraw based on the previous combats with rams having ended in their deaths and this might be at the point where one starts succeeding where the others had failed. So I'm thinking this is an animation art issue.

I'll need Sparth and Alberts2 to look into this then.

2) points earned by the raft winning are going to a Great Hunter not an Great Admiral so why are they not getting points from the GH?

It may well be intentional given how much work Koshling did in this department to audit the system. And if it's not intentional it should be should it not? We can't give the perception that these units are subservient to any of our state authorized field commanders... would give away the secret!

Sounds fair enough, but in that case all the other HNs are buggy, as (I now know) Herero Rebels, Warlords and Sharpshooters (Inniskillings too I think) all can be aided by GCs. :p
 
Hi. My game crash after finishing this turn. It´s crashed maybe 3 times. I´ve restarted my PC once and tried allocating more RAM to be used using following directions:

It didn´t help.

I attashed an rar file including the appropriate dmp file and the save file.
I´m using SVN update from the 19th of this month. can´t remember the number ;)

Tried to follow the instructions on this page regarding reporting bugs. Hope i did okey :)

And yeah, i reported some other bug about setting. Ignore it. For some reason the settings I had got saved like they should have, and now there is no problem.

On an other note. Isn´t mesopatanism a little to good of a religion. It was, i thought, the best before when i played the normal realese. With the free couthouse etc etc.
Now it´s even better, when it gives second most education. (Hell. 12, Meso. 10, druid. 6 and the rest 7) I know it don´t give any + :science: % but still. Maybe i´m missing something, after all i´ve never got passed the medivel era :p

1) When it only takes a few more rounds to research to get to kayaks, I have a hard time believing that considering how slowly rafts move.
2)They shouldn't be... There's no cause for their pts to be going towards hunters. Would be strange indeed if they were.

This bug MAY be the one I just fixed and then again it also may be the graphic animation bug with rams... or something new. I can take a look tomorrow perhaps.

Just experiensed the pathing quirk with a land unit:

So this problem is not specific to reef/kelp features.

I believe the problem here, is that the pathing code prioritize defense modifiers at the expense of route length.

At the moment and for the foreseeable future... pathing is far beyond the ability of the current team to resolve. Even Koshling who built the structure advised not to attempt any fixes there. There are certainly some issues though and I wouldn't mind it if we started a thread to track exactly what pathing issues exist.

No Meso is just fine. (And I don't remember Meso with free courthouse for sometime now). It's been geared to be a good early religion that by Late Classical to early Med Era you will be moving on from to a later Religion as your Main religion.

Example, I keep Tengrii till after Judaism or longer till Tao is available. Sometimes until Christianity as well but the point is that I do (and it's meant to be this way) move on to a later religion when I can as the mid game progresses.
