Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Here's my Argonian warrior, Legate of the Imperial Legion, veteran of the Skyrim civil war and faithful husband to his gentle man! What's cooking, honey?

Has anyone else done the quests for Namira? Did the last bit really weird you out? I did the molag bal stuff fine, just at the end of the namira chain I actually hesitated before continuing. Did it anyway to see if there was any cool loot, but I think that's the first time I think I've ever felt weirded out like that in a game.

Why do Argonians have breasts anyway? I thought that they weren't mammals.

I don't know, especially since according to the lore they can change their gender (somehow) and are an ancient and unique species (unlike the Orcs which were elves cursed by a Daedric lord).

The Khajiit also shouldn't really have breasts, but whatever. It makes the two genders easily distinguishable (usually) without having to make extra female versions of armour/clothing for one race.

Maybe it's an evolutionary by-product of mingling with humans?

Tell me how can I for example go from dual casting a spell (like Healing) to dual cast another spell (like Flames) without having to hotkey the second one, please.

It's absolutely ridiculous that I have to hotkey them so I can double tap that key in order to dualcast another spell (Flames) because otherwise the original spell (Healing) just switches from R to LR while the spell I want to cast (Flames) just switches from L to none.

Damn the UI, ruining my experience with mindless flaws!!

Um... You can just open your favorites (Q) and right click on a spell and left click on the other, or right and left click on the same for dual-casting?

I try to use hotkeys too but for dual-wielding it confuses the hell out of me. I still am kind of confused about how it works. The first time you press on a hotkey it switches what is in your left hand? I still don't get it. But that might be because I don't do it that often since I'm an archer for now.

The only solution to make this simpler would be if the game allowed a different shortcut for switching what is in your left hand and what is in your right hand. For instance, pressing "1" would switch what is in your right hand, but pressing "Shift+1" would change what is in your left hand... Otherwise with just 1-8 as hotkeys, it's bound to manage hands in order. It's so confusing that I have a hard time describing the problem in words.

It's still confusing to me that the left mouse button controls your right hand weapon (or spell), and the right mouse button controls your left hand.

I gave up on hotkeys for weapons. It never seems to go into the hand I want. I only use the hotkeys for potions. I use the favorites menu and click left and right for my weapons or spells.

The left-click/right-click is a dilemma to me. It makes sense the way it is if I'm fighting with a sword and shield setup (left click to attack, right click to block, like in every game ever, even though you are holding the shield in the left hand). However, when casting two different spells or dual wielding anything, it's not as intuitive and it's confusing, since in that case no hand is intuitively the "primary" hand. And it becomes REALLY confusing when you're trying to assign items or spells to your hands and you have to right click for your left hand, you have to wrap your head around the fact that you aren't assigning a hand, but you are assigning a click-side you want for that item.

The developers were stuck though. There was no way they could get this 100% right. Assigning this dual-wielding system to a mouse was doomed from the beginning, and I knew it would be, as I posted the day before release. I can't really berate the developers because there was no getting out of this sticky situation. There only option would have been to put more options on the control scheme to allow every player to do as the see fit (reassign left click to left hand and right click to right hand, which for me would still be confusing when using melee weapons and even arrows, where I'd have to left click to zoom in...). A good solution might be if we were able to reassign left click and right click to left hand and right hand, and just play a left-handed character, but I know I would find it jarring to be a left-handed person in a first person game.

No, really for me there is no easy solution to this, because sometimes the system works for certain weapon/spell choices, sometimes it doesn't, and a middling solution would make the use of the UI even more confusing.

yeah the controls are clearly meant for a xbox 360 controller... which is sad since the mouse is so much more precise. I'll have to get used to it I guess, for now I feel like my aim is crappy :D

While it does have same sex marriage, I think that is a female Argonian stirring the pot. Unless those aren't small breast bumps.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it was a dude

uat2d, I agree with mostly everything in the video, although I'm confused about how that healing spell can't be unselected by left or right clicking on it? If you want to unselect something that is in your left hand, you need to right click on it. Was that just left clicking that was done in the menu?

As for the escape key, I disagree, I'm glad I can quit every menu with tab, otherwise I'd have a carpal tunnel syndrome from all the escape key pressing hehe.

My pet peeve is how you can't access the journal with the tab menu, but somehow that part of the game is in the escape menu. But the 4-side tab menu wouldn't allow a fifth option...

It was all, I tried the LMB, the RMB and the E key - nothing was able to unselect the Healing spell.
