Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

The signatures are about the best response to that.

At first I was like 'OMG Skyrim is made by Blizzard!' ('cause WoW is my game), but then I was sad because I realized Skyrim was not made by Blizzard. =( Love and reality never did grace the same moment.

LOL, I'm sure it's just some internet trolling. If you look at the petition, it only has like 100 signatures. The game hasn't turned me gay. If I haven't turned gay after having a gay romance with Zevran in Dragon Age, then I certainly won't with this game.

So now I said I haven't been attacked by a dragon in ages, I got attacked by one by the Astronach stone (while picking jazbay grapes for an annoying quest with little reward). The interesting thing is I didn't absorb a soul from it. I'm not sure why. I think I should advance the main quest more.

And the quest rewards vary wildly with the amount of gold they award. Killing a tough giant (actually he wasn't as tough as I thought he'd be) only awards 100 gold, but planting a ring in a dresser with no fighting awards 1000 gold. Strange.

That's a petition for SkyRim, not Skyrim.

I'm actually relieved to see christwire is a parody.
This kind of gave it away.

After playing it quite a bit, I'm rather disappointed in Skyrim.
I know it's a Bethesda game, so the writing will be poor and it'll be a bugfest, but it'll have gorgeous graphics and sceneries and a feeling of immensity.

But Skyrim seems to have become completely schizophrenic on the immersion factor. Visuals are still magnificents, but jarred with horribly low-res textures that jump in your face. The world has an even better feeling than in the previous games when you walk in it, but its contents (people and quests and factions and the like) are frankly sloppy.
The dialogues are better dubbed but the writing is terrible, and the RPG you can actually do is horribly restricted to the point of nonexistence.

Quests are particularly jarring, being extremely short, unrewarding and just not immersive ("hello, you're the new guy I've known for five minutes, could you do this thing for me ? Thanks, you're now my best buddy and a hero").

All in all, it's kind of mediocre for an AAA game. It seems Bethesda put all its eggs in the scenery basket, added some gimmicks to give the illusion of depth, dumbed down the franchise even further to attract an even larger public, and was extremely lazy with everything else.
Not "bad", but for sure not living up to the hype.
"underwhelming" would fit it the best I think.

Be that as it may, I'm having more fun with Skyrim than I did with Oblivion. Haven't tried Morrowind though, might try it after I've fully played out Skyrim (30 hours in, most likely 50 more to go :D).

One problem I have is the loot in Skyrim. It does not reflect upon its environment, at all. Plus they could have added more Dwemer stuff. At one point I was looking at a Dwemer dining table and it depicted its plates as massive mechanical cogs. Seriously?

My biggest problem with immersion in Skyrim: They should cut down on the psychotic, babbling NPCs. They repeat the same phrase over and over again when you stand next to them.
"I work for Belethor at the general goods store" . Um, OK. I didn't really ask you about your job. And he say it every time you walk past him.
And when I go to that store get rid of my loot he's there sweeping the floor. "I work for Belethor at the general goods store"
I CAN SEE THAT AND I DON'T GIVE A DAMN !
Sometimes I murder people just because they annoy me.

The most annoying one is the guards going, "Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?" in a really annoying tone. Also somewhat annoying to walk past everybody and they tell me I look sick. I'm not diseased bastards!

Well, actually, yes you are, they only say this one if you've contracted some disease.
I had the same experience, thought it was just the shopkeeper trying to sell her medication and didn't notice until it until even the barmaid told the same line. Checked my "active effects" tab and noticed "ah yes, right, in fact I HAVE a disease".

Try the novice mage who tells you "you should go to the college of magic" when you are THE FRIGGIN' GUILDMASTER (after having done all the three and a half poor excuses for quests ending in "okay, now you're the big boss, cya").

Where do you check active effects?

I use an altar every day, so I find it unlikely that I keep getting diseases immediately afterwards. :(

"magic" section.
I don't know if altar also cure natural diseases or just magical effects.

I don't like relying on Gods and always hated how this "cure everything button" was lazy and removed half of the interest in having potions and magic, so I never use it. Can't really answer about it so ^^

Valid complaints, still best game of the year. I have yet to see such an immense game that fixes these things sadly. Games with deep stories and character relationships that are believable (eg. Planescape Torment) have to be a lot more scripted and not as exploratory and sandbox. Maybe that'll change in the future, but when I get into a Bethesda game, I know I'm not going in for believable relationships and NPC reactions. At least in this one they consider things you've done and comment on them sometimes, which is an improvement over the previous games.

Did you try New Vegas ?
It's not on the level of Torment, but it's certainly on the level of Fallout, and avoids nearly all the flaws that Skyrim has, while being the same kind of game.

Sorry, but they DID comment what you did in the previous game. I'd even say : they did it more often and more consistently.

Really, New Vegas is that much better than Skyrim? I've played it, yes the flaws we're talking about aren't as bad in New Vegas, but not THAT much better. And it's a result of there being less to do in New Vegas in my opinion. Still, I love New Vegas. It puts maybe a bit more emphasis on characters and stories, less on sandboxyness.

Well that's not how I remember it what can I say. They were still pretty derpy.

New Vegas will always be my favorite game. But it's a different type of game (future apocalyptic scenario instead of fantasy). I feel the quests are a little more involved (at least some of them), but they could have taken it a step further. There are still too many simple errand quests. But they have done a lot with the Bethesda engine. It shows what is possible if you put some thought into developing the rpg aspects of the game. It's much better than Fallout 3 imho.

Dammit, my dog died somewhere. He survived an attack by a giant, and a dragon only to die to something easy. Oh well, I will mourn my pooch. :( I liked having a dog follow me around.

A little bugginess with the stormcloaks, they call me a foreigner even though I am a Nord. And the one guy at the thieves guild still acts like I'm a recruit even though I'm the guildmaster. This goes in line with the discussion above about dialogue in this game. I feel the dialogue is an improvement over Morrowind and Oblivion, but it's still not nearly on the same level as Fallout: New Vegas.

And what's with he sweetroll comment anyways? I don't get it. Why do I look as if someone stole my sweetroll?
