Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Regardless of time, it was the ES game immediately preceding this one. If they have so few story ideas that they have to mine the last game in the series they released, then they should probably pack it in.

Maybe ES 6 will have a totally original storyline involving dragons coming back!

Because dragons as a story element has never been used in any other story, ever.

Not sure if I'm explaining myself poorly or if you are deliberately misunderstanding me. I never said Skyrim's main plot was ultra original, it most certainly isn't. But at least they didn't steal it from one of their own games. If they are reusing ideas from their own games, especially the last game they released before this one, then that is what I am saying means they are in trouble. I haven't had a high opinion of Bethesda's writing staff in a long long time anyway, but at least to date they haven't really had to reuse their own past ideas.

Question to those with Dawnguard - is playing the good guys at least half as rewarding as playing as the bad guys? I always prefer to play the good questlines, because, well, my character's a goody-two-shoes, but it always seems in the Elder Scrolls that the good guys (like the Mages Guild) have crappy questlines compared to the bad guys (like the Dark Brotherhood, and I really don't understand all the love for them). I'll still buy Dawnguard eventually, but I want to know whether it'd be better to wait until it's on a really cheap sale or something.

Well, probably the main feature in Dawnguard is a ridiculously overpowered Vampire Lord -perk tree, which obviously is a bad guy thing. I don't know how cool the dawnguard mission line is as I just started it though.

It's true by the way that random vampire events with one master vampire and couple of slightly weaker vampires start to appear as low as on level 7. They seem to happen mostly on towns though which makes them much easier as guards are there to help.

Found the mods that ALREADY DO EXACTLY THIS, FOR FREE.

Also when I first saw the trailer for Heathfire, I thought it was a bloody parody because of the voice and well just the trailer in general. The only thing the mods don't currently do is having multiple locations, but since Hearthfire will likely only offer set locations anyway that can and probably will be remedied.

The Sims: Skyrim Edition.

I really with Bethesda would start putting some effort into their expansions. Skyrim was such a high quality; these mods are bringing the overall class down.

Meh, it's only 5 USD. I'm willing to spend that amount to support Bethesda and possible future releases.

Now, I know what kind of reaction that will garner from some people, but I just don't have that fan/nerd-rage that a lot of other gamers have towards Bethesda and recent titles. :undecide: I like Skyrim well enough to spend 5 USD. If it had been 10 USD, I might be hesitant.

Buuuuuut, I won't be getting it soon, however. I just don't have the time to game like I used to and I'd rather wait until I get a modern PC to play it on. By the time my budget allows that to happen, a GOTY version should definitely be an option.

And let's not forget that console players can't use mods.

The Sims: Skyrim Edition.

Are you mocking the DLC? I can't tell. But this is pretty much what the majority of fans clamor for over at the official forums. And let's not forget the unending comments asking for a Survival/Hardcore mode with Hunger/Thirst/Sleep/ETC bars. If that happens, we'll definitely be looking at a Sims type experience.

Rule 1 of almost any AAA title: The fans on the official forum are generally morons. This mod is only good for people who purchased Skyrim on the consoles (wait probably just xbox 360, PS3 still doesn't even have Dawnguard). There is no reason to spend money on it on the PC at all.

Someone on another forum suggested that they're just releasing this just to have something for the Microsoft exclusivity thingy on the XBOX - if I remember there were two DLCs for that, so they just wanted to release something small to get it out of the way.

Of course I still await a Shivering Isles style expansion/DLC/hwatever.

Yes, I am.

Well, I have Skyrim on 360, because I do not wish to host Steam on my machine. This does look good for people who can't used mods, such as console players.

I didn't say it was a good reason, did I? :)

I payed $60 for Skyrim when it first came out, there is no way I'm going to pay Bethesda more money for something I can legally get for free.

I just... what is this I don't even... huh? Is this really what people on the official forums have been clamoring for? Really? Maybe they should have spent their $60 on a Barbie Dream House instead if this was the kind of thing they wanted out of Skyrim.

I hear the new one comes with a patio, pool, and Dwemer Centurion.

That was in Fallout New Vegas and it was an interesting and welcomed feature, especially for a player bored by the relative easiness of Skyrim.

This expansion sucks, but come on. With that line of thinking they should have just stopped at Daggerfall. You act like it's Madden or something.

EDIT: Isn't 400 Microsoft Points pretty cheap?

Not to mention that that option was optional, could be turned on and off regardless of what level you were playing, and they implemented in the least intrusive and immersive way possible (in contrast to some of the hunger/thirst/sleep mods available - probably the ones that first come to mind for some people - where you have to keep track of 91381841 different stats like protein and calories and fish intake and how many breaths you're taking in a minute).

Something like that would have been nice for Skyrim.
