Snakes & Foxes 3: The ****oo's Nest (Game Thread)

Niklas didn't post the whole letter, though, perhaps because the last bit was just too SHOCKING AND OFFENSIVE for public viewing.
Nah, I left out the second part because it could be traced to you if you were to join the game (which you did). Feel free to post all of it now. :)

Hey Niklas, don't you have all the stats? Can't you post them all like Tolis did in the 2nd Dissensions Thread?

Here are my initial stats :

Dragon Slayer
Player: Izipo
Race: Human
Nation: Grigori
Alignment: Neutral

You are a fierce warrior trained to defend the world against its foulest creatures, the dragons. You were chosen for your great strength (+Power), and you wield your eight foot two-handed sword (+Reach, +Melee) without a problem. Your massive swings will cut through bone, armor (xArmor) or thick skin (xAbsorption) alike, leaving massive wounds or severed limbs in their wake (xRegeneration). Your strong armor (+Armor) will protect you even against a dragon's breath (xElemental), and you know to watch for the tell-tale signs that preceed such a blast (+Alertness). You fear no creature no matter how large or where it comes from (xConjuration), but your training is focused on facing one massive foe at a time (-Synergy). Thus you are sometimes easily distracted (-Distraction), or even fooled by things that aren't really there (-Illusion). Your fighting style is also less useful against the quick (-Movement) and nimble (-Dodge) that may simply duck from your blows.

Spoiler Stats :
+Power +Melee +Reach +Armor +Alertness
-Movement -Dodge -Synergy -Distraction -Illusion
xArmor xAbsorption xConjuration xElemental xRegeneration

Special power: Slayer. Though dragons are your specialty, you can use much of your knowledge against other foul, thick-skinned beasts as well. You receive an extra +2 against any character using +Conjuration or +Absorption against you.

I also bought +Movement and +Illusion for the fights against the firebow and the Ogre respectively.
For the lulz you can compare my stats to those of Thomas.

At one point I was also proposed +Profane, but was wary of such a transaction (and it turns out I was right). I mean, a free attack out of the blue, there must be some kind of drawback. Besides it didn't fit with the kind of character I had in mind.

Ogre
Player: Winston Hughes
Race: Ogre
Nation: Clan of Embers
Alignment: Evil

You big Ogre. You're strong (+Power), stronger than any man (xPower), and you can crush men with your bare hands (+Unarmed). Your long arms lets you strike them before they get close (+Reach), and your thick skull (+Absorption) and quick healing (+Regeneration) means you don't need to fear a fight. Only a fool would try to grapple you (xUnarmed), but those with pesky little weapons usually don't fare any better (xMelee). Your skin also protects you from the elements (xElemental), and there isn't much in your mind to target to begin with (xMind). That means you are quite susceptible to trickery (-Distraction) and illusions (-Illusion) though, and you have problems concentrating on more than one target at a time (-Synergy). You aren't the fastest (-Movement), and you were never any good at hide and seek (-Stealth)...

Strengths +Power +Unarmed +Reach +Regeneration +Absorption
Weaknesses -Synergy -Movement -Stealth -Distraction -Illusion
Resistances xPower xMelee xUnarmed xElemental xMind

Special power: Thickheaded. You're not so squeamish. You only take half the amount of wound points from a battle compared to what another contestant would, and you heal those you do take at a rate of 2 points per night.

My special power was basically to save money on healing potions. Not very useful, under the circumstances.

And in case any less attentive readers didn't figure it out, the only equipment I could afford for the fight against Izipo was +Synergy. It seemed pretty obvious he'd have a weakness for that. But, then, it seemed equally obvious that he was going to rip me to shreds anyway, so it was really just a question of putting on a half-decent show.

As you return to your rooms and investigate the sack of gold you have received, you notice one coin larger than the others, with a stylized V engraved on both sides. There's also a small accompanying note, reading:

You are one of the Mark, a Fox. There are three of you, as there are also three Snakes. Your goal in this competition is to kill all the Snakes, and outnumber the innocents. The goal of the Snakes is the opposite, to have you killed. The goal of the innocents is to kill all Marks, Snakes and Foxes alike, though they may not be aware that you also compete with each other.

Each night you must collectively select one contestant who will do battle the following evening. Their opponent will be selected by the Snakes. If you manage to have all the Snakes killed, you will get to pick both contestants for the evening fights. If that happens, you must follow the same rules as for the public votes. In other words, you may not pick two team mates to fight each other, and until there are only 20 contestants left, you may not pick anyone who has fought during the previous morning or evening.

Good luck!

Lizardman
Player: Kulko
Race: Lizardman
Nation: Clan of Embers
Alignment: Neutral

You're a creature of nature (+Nature), no one is better equipped to tackle any climate (xNature) from the dryest deserts to the most humid swamps (xElemental). You're a trained scout (+Alertness), and know to use slings (+Ranged) or spears (+Reach). Your scales are hard enough to withstand most hits (+Armor), and your cold blood makes you impervious to normal poisons (xPoison). Your slippery exterior makes you hard to grapple (xUnarmed), and you can use your tail to trip people trying to dodge you (xDodge). Your strikes are not the strongest, and armor will usually stop them (-Armor), and usually they are easy to heal if given the chance (-Regeneration). You aren't the most sophisticated fighter, so those trained at it can usually predict your strikes (-Alertness), and you can be easily fooled by unreal projections (-Illusion). Your cold blood can sometimes also be a detriment, making you less resilient to magic attacks trying to affect your body (-Body).
Spoiler Stats :
+Ranged +Reach +Armor +Alertness +Nature
-Regeneration -Armor -Alertness -Illusion -Body
xUnarmed xPoison xDodge xElemental xNature

Special power: Survival. You are able to tackle environments with ease that most others would find completely inaccessible and dangerous. You get a +2 bonus whenever you get to pick the arena and your opponent doesn't have xNature. However, you get -1 whenever you don't pick the arena and your opponent doesn't have +Nature, seeing how they would pick an environment you are unused to.

I must say I liked my ability, it fit my role well. But it turned out the only thing it ever did was giving me -1 on both battles I was voted into. So at all the people who complain about the uselessness of theirs, it could have been worse.

I was really scared when somebody suggested I go against Izipo and I am even more scared now that I have seen his stats.

My power just gave me a clean +1 in all battles. I see the Monk must have had +2 or more on me, then, unless it was the stage that gave him the match.

You were fighting the druid not the monk. Post your stats and we can easier be able to figure out why he won.

Oh yeah, I had you in my sights since after my fight against the Ogre. I figured I had a good chance against you since you were the last "beast" around.
IIRC, I tried to vote myself into battle against you on one or two occasions.

Unfortunately, I deleted my stats. I know I had +Melee, +Reach, and +Armor (Duh). Don't remember my resistances, but I had -Poison.

I say again: Niklas, don't you have all the stats, can't you post them all? :p

Here are mine... :)

Overlord Speaker
Player: RRRaskolnikov
Race: Human
Nation: Lanun
Alignment: Evil

They speak to you in your dreams, you are their instrument, the unspeakables beneath the waves. The things you have seen makes you fear no creature (xConjuration), and you have gained power beyond comprehension. You can turn people mad by giving them a glimpse of the truths you've seen (+Mind), and anyone trying to affect your mind will be sucked into the whirlpool (xMind). You know the concoctions that make people most susceptible to your control (+Poison), as well as the dark secrets of necromancy (+Profane). The waves of the sea are at your command (+Elemental), and you can call upon the drowned to do your bidding (+Conjuration). You don't fear warriors with big armor, they just sink faster (xArmor), and their swords get stuck in the flesh of your minions (xMelee). You don't care whether you face one or many opponents (xSynergy), the waves are uncaring how many they cover. What you do care is opponents that are too fast (-Movement) or too agile (-Dodge) for your zombies, or those that just grab them and cast them aside (-Unarmed). Then there are those that can magically rapture the flesh of your minions (-Body), or call on their gods to end their abominable existance (-Divine).

Spoiler Stats :
+Mind +Elemental +Poison +Conjuration +Profane
-Unarmed -Movement -Dodge -Divine -Body
xMelee xArmor xConjuration xSynergy xMind

Special power: Drowning. You can turn your opponents into drowned servants. If you get to choose the arena, any character you kill will be drowned and will become a zombie in your service. You get a +2 bonus in battle for each such zombie you have. This bonus is halved against people with xSynergy, and completely negated if they also have xProfane.

Here's my stats:

Luridus

Alignment: Good

You are a humble servant of Lugus the Sun, spreading his blessed enlightenment. He is with you always (+Divine), and his fiery wrath is at your command (+Elemental). You can shape his light in strange forms (+Illusion), use it to light up the darkness of people's minds (+Mind), or to nourish and replenish your own energy and body (+Regeneration). You need not fear the servants of other good gods (xDivine), the other gods know your worth. Your mind is an impregnable bastion of wisdom (xMind), and enlightened focus is your byword (xDistraction). Nothing can hide from you when you shine holy light over an area (xStealth), and no flame is more potent than the searing light of the Sun (xRegeneration). What you fear are the denizens of darkness (-Profane), and you can only hope they fear you just as much. Those hardest to face are those that can deflect the light you shine at them (-Deflection). You are physically somewhat weak (-Power), certainly no fighter (-Melee), and you have few defenses against those that fire at you from afar (-Ranged).

Spoiler Stats :
+Divine +Regeneration +Illusion +Elemental +Mind
-Power -Ranged -Melee -Profane -Deflection
xStealth xRegeneration xDistraction xDivine xMind

Special power: Piercing Light. The blessed light of Lugus reveals everything. Once in the game you may shine it into the heart of a person, which will make it reveal publically to all whether that character is a mark or not. The effect will likely be traceable to you, bearing the telltale signs of Lugus.

S'funny, I have seen many of these stats before when Niklas had asked me to writge battle updates.. I have deleted my own PM and everything else concerning the actual game, but I can recall my character stats pretty well...

+Distract, +Movement, +Illusion, +Profane and +Dodge, iirc.
xUnarmed, xNature, xMind, and I'm unsure about the rest, but xAlertness possibly.
-Divine, -Melee, -Armor, and quite possibly -Stealth.
EDIT: -Synergy, I'm sure.

My special ability was "Mimic", which let me keep the ability of a defeated opponent after a battle (these did not stack, but would overwrite eachother).

I had completely forgotten, but who placed the false vote in my name on the first day? That caused some headaches ...

(@ Diamondeye -- sorry that I can't commit to doing another S&F with you. I think it's just too much for me.)

I had completely forgotten, but who placed the false vote in my name on the first day? That caused some headaches ...
Tolis, who else. ;)

:rotfl: I'm completely not surprised, and yet, I am. He played the outrage card really, really well. What was he hoping to accomplish by that, do you know? And what were the parameters of that ability?

Come to think of it, something else doesn't make sense...

why in Agares' name did we give money for a scanner to someone who placed 0 bets over the course of the game? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having one?

Yeah, I fell for that one as well. I fell for a lot of things.

Oh, I didn't give him any money myself. One of the few things I did right. :p
