Whoops! That was me. rolleyes.gif

Well, I'm in! Charging for GOTM? Whatever next!

Just tell me where you want me to set up the FREE GOTM shop. We'll probably need a new name, as well, if we don't want TF to sue us for every penny we haven't got.

I *think* I've disabled guest posting, so hopefully that won't happen to anyone else. You're not moderator of IV-GOTM. Are you going to set one up for III as well, or should we wait to see if more of your former staff show-up?

Obviously ainwood went with the greedy crowd. angry.gif

About your GOTM name question, I've been going through the merger contract, and it clearly recognizes a number of "brand names" as generic and not copyrighted or trademarked. GOTM and HOF are safe."

ehhhh... wait an see i guess

Someone tell AlCosta about CPC

TF just posted in CPC:Site Feed back: goodbye:

It looks like the pay features are driving users away already.

I just wanted to drop by and let you all know that I do understand what's going on here, but after we get CivJunction really up and running you'll give us a chance. We are merging with the users in mind more than anything else. Please keep in mind the announcement is less than a day old and we have yet to unveil the real costs and benefits of the pay system we're planning.

Looks like it is all real.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the 2nd of April.

Then again, it is still good old French New Years over in the wrong end of the world..

But what about the OT and etc?

MjM wanted me to post in here to knock some sense into you guys.

Apolyton has been known in the past to do some really good April Fools jokes - the one I can think of at the top of my head is Ming retiring and bringing MichaelTheGreat as admin, who then proceeded to ban everyone on site. Last year in Apolyton we had OTBot, a bot which supposedly ranked your posts as spam or not.

Ever since I heard about the rumors, I knew that this had to be an april fools hoax. All signs are pointing this to be a hoax. For one, there's not even a forum set up - given the fact that they started a site, they could at least put a basic forum. Second of all, the forums arn't closed down, the mods who retired havn't been removed from CFC - they would if they really did quit.

And even if it is a merger, plenty of the stuff is ridiculous. The lack of the OT is nonsense - Apolyton is the OT there, and without the OT, you don't have much of Apolyton left. I doubt that the NES community would be left to fry, either. As for the pay-to-play things - most likely bunk too.

There really isn't anything to worry about - getting all wacky about it only makes you look like a fool. If you are going to get worried, get worried once it becomes April 2nd.

Like now in half the world?

So what? It's not EST - that's all that counts in both Apolyton and CFC, which both operate in that time zone.

Just for the record, from observing the people from Apolyton at OT, I would rather not be in the same site as them ;)

You know, I think bird's with the mods if this is a prank... -_-

Two mods confirmed the truth of it all to me via pm. Maybe they are just spooffing me, but I know them well enough that I don't really think so.

It's entirely possible also that they told you the truth and told you to go along with it... :crazyeye:

It's less their fault than the problem of user numbers. Apolyton just doesn't have as many users as you do; as far as the OT goes, everyone there already knows each other, so there's not much of interest left to say. You know who is going to say what in response to issue X and there's no point in dragging out another thread about it.

As far as the concern about "Apolyton NES" - what Apolyton NES? I run the only "active" NES on Apolyton and that's not saying much. If this turns out to be not an April Fool's joke (though I'm reasonably sure it is), you hardly have anything to be afraid of. Silly Civilization Forum identity crisis. :shake:

Even if this is true, we would have a month to do things before the transfer. Calm down.

Iggy, go finish updating your nes :p

If they just told everyone via PM that it wasn't a joke, theyd ruin it. I'm sure their PM boxes are brimming with so many messages, they have some sort of generic "yeah its real" letter.

Apolyton never really did seem to have much of an active site. I participated in the "Tough Times" NES in 2004 and it was the only thread in the forum

That and Civ3 storywriting were my only interests there, and well, yeah...

It's not real. If it were, we could move, and it honestly wouldn't take that much time. If it's not real, then nothing happens. So oh well. :)
