Shocked there's not a thread about this. Or did I just miss it?
Was it that nobody here watched it?
Nobody here cares
We caught a few minutes a couple of times between recorded shows that we were watching since my wife refused to watch that travesty.

What were you thoughts.
On a side note, the Sun just rose here and Trump took credit for it.
It's a great Sun.

How about Nancy ripping up the speech as he finished.
Now as much as I despise trump and thought the speech was a farce, I think her action was a bit overboard and a little childish.
What about you.
I'm sure we'll be hearing about it for a week or so.

How about that pasty white Dem rebuttal?

I also refused to watch that "travesty" lol! I'm PO'd because it pushed This Is Us back a week [pissed]

What did Nancy say? Whatever it was, I'm sure her takedown of him was awesome. I'm really proud of her, one thing we can't do is let him completely control the narrative.

Wasn't worth the attention: skipped both Assclown and the dingleberries in response.

A summary from CNN. ;)
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi clashed in two stunning moments at Tuesday night's State of the Union address, when Trump appeared to ignore Pelosi's attempt at a handshake and she later ripped up her copy of his speech after he concluded.

The frosty exchanges came on the eve of the Senate's expected acquittal of Trump in his impeachment trial, which was sparked by House Democrats' investigations of Trump's conduct regarding Ukraine. It's unclear whether Trump avoided Pelosi's handshake on purpose, and a source close to the House speaker told CNN's Dana Bash the decision to tear up the speech wasn't planned but was sparked by her anger at the address.
The moments were unmistakable signs of the deteriorating relationship between the two leaders, who hadn't communicated with each other in months, as well as the increasing partisan rancor in Washington following the five-month impeachment saga and the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
A Trump adviser told CNN's Jim Acosta that by apparently ignoring Pelosi the President missed an opportunity to heal a divided nation.

"The country seems very, very divided but I think Trump made a mistake not shaking her hand," the adviser said, while also faulting "the Democrats by being so silent and not clapping on even nonpartisan lines."
Following the speech, Pelosi tweeted, "Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done #ForThePeople. We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot."

Her other comment was
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called President Donald Trump's State of the Union address a "manifesto of mistruths" after appearing to rip up a copy of his speech as the event ended.

Good for her! He's a disgrace and needs to be treated like one.

He gave a little black girl a scholarship for purely political gain, impeachment inquiry to follow

She was probably one of his children from one of his maids.

"He brought back up the attempt at systematically bringing down public education so his friends can profit off of science denial"

The whole thing was lie after lie or like you said taking credit where there is none to be taken. Unemployment is down. Thanks Obama. I mean they are running MMT for 2% growth and the moment the blue guy wins its going to be a momentous refrain of fiscal restraint. We can;t possibly afford to educate people to not be science deniers or pay for people's healthcare in a responsible fashion rather then just mass globs of ER bills and bankruptcy write offs.

It was an embarrassment of propaganda. That's usually what the SOTU is its just worse when its his 3 hours of it.

What's interesting is that he doesn't really seem to practice his speeches, and it shows. He's rather incoherent when he's off-the-cuff, but I don't know how much his 'reading voice' grates me merely because I despise him.

I mean, I've successfully listened to other politicians speak?

it sure was a ''ripper of a speech''
It's symbolic of the whole term. Trump wins and the Democrats destroying something in frustration.

It is truly unreal that people still call him incompetent. It shows a lack of both objectivity and understanding.

What were your thoughts.
All-out bid for minority vote share. A lot of the time spent in the speech was him reporting the good economic numbers, "blue collar boom" etc., featured a lot of blacks and latinos in his invited guest lineup. Particularly in the econ section he couched the minority gains as a reversal of Obama's policies. Some of the statements were very partisan. This induced the democrats to sit tight and quiet when he peeled off the statistics, how blacks were experiencing their historical low unemployment, their exodus from the welfare rolls, and such. The dems didn't clap for any of it. How does that look on TV?

I have really mixed feelings about the strategy. I am not interested in the right courting minority votes by playing the left's game. Trying to capture voting blocs with gimmes? Free health care for illegals and the rest of the santa claus bs? The GOP will never beat the Democrats at that. It doesn't have to, either. They've become two fundamentally different parties; people identify with or vote for them for apple/orange reasons.

that fat mouthbreather is incompetence personified, what are you smoking my man?

I didn't bother to watch.

His point is that Trump is wildly successful along a number of metrics. Some of that is bullheadedness. Some of that is Mitch.

The greatest trolling in history.

Ducked Pelosi's handshake.
Spent the first 30 minutes praising the economy which the media does not often do.
Every special guest was a minority or military person.
Squeezed in the hit "blue collar boom."
Gave Rush Limbaugh a Medal of Freedom and got the Republicans to cheer him for a few minutes.

As a former troll, his most impressive feat was to slowly start a sentence saying something to completely outrage the democrats.
Usually a lie or a blatant putdown of Obama or something dear to their heart.
Then after they gasped or started muttering he would get a bit louder and speed up to say something hard to disagree with like ..."and I wish Rush a speedy recovery from horrifying cancer."
A few Dems would clap, but most sat in stony angry silence because the 1st half of Trump's sentence praised "taming the west (genocide)" or somesuch.
All the public would see is the Dems who hate Rush sitting down not clapping after cancer well-wishes, and everyone knows someone who died a long horriflying death to cancer.

This tactic came out bigly during the healthcare part in the middle.
Everything he said was a lie or bad except upfront medical pricing.

Then he went into telling stories about every illegal immigrant who killed someone one at a time in detail while praising his wall.

I stopped and did not watch the 2nd half.

Can anyone post a full transcript?

Calling Pelosi's reaction immature or childish is impossible for me to do.
Before the SOTU speech, Trump invited a bunch of media big shots to lunch.
He acted calm and bragged impeachment did not anger him at all.
This is another 5th grade move.
When trading shoulder punches with your friend, when he acts like it doesn't hurt at all, it really makes you mad.

Did Trump claim credit for emission reductions or attack abortion rights?
I think I heard him praising Mitch's judges.

If a Republican had done that after one of Obama's that's all we would have heard about for a month.
Blasting him the next day or in the Rebuttal is the accepted behavior. She can off looking petty. Like Trump dodging her handshake earlier.
I expect better behavior from our leaders. ON BOTH SIDES. (and I know it's not happening anymore)

J's always good for a laugh. Some of his posts sound like they were ripped straight from Lara Trump's tv show.

most of the time he seems to me understandable and lucid, so moments like these always throw me off. how different human perception can be.. it scares me, genuinely.
