The Fifty First State

We already have Utah.

This would be the Old, New Jerusalem.

@ OP, why postpone the end of times and the new world? Someone too comfortable in the present one?

Have you ever thought about if there's anyone in Israel who'd actually want this? You know, being an independent Jewish state is basically the countries whole raison d'etre. You want to eliminate the independent Jewish state from the map? Didn't know your rhetoric is that close to Ahmadinejad's.

Why on earth would Israel want to be a U.S. state? They have way more than 2 U.S. senators right now.

I don't want this country getting any bigger. If anything, its time for it to get smaller and split. I'm tired of everything getting dictated from Washington...

Here I was expecting to find an intellectually stimulating discussion of the pros and cons of Puerto Rico becoming the next state.

The above said is not really a statement regarding Puerto Rico though. They actually are in our country.

That said, I don't think they want statehood, and I don't think we want their blue votes:p
Give them independence;)

I think a better idea would be for the U.S. to be Israel's seventh district. :D

Seriously, though, ain't gonna happen.

 And yes, you are right, it won't and shouldn't;)

So where would you like to relocate to? As a fellow resident of New York I'm well aware of the prevailing attitude towards government here: your views are extremely far from the norm.

So where would you go?

Or, perhaps a better question is, how would you like to see the States divided?

Oh, I can't stand this state:p

I much prefer the likes of Texas:)

Go for it. I seriously doubt anybody would try to stop the far more conservative and morally repressive states from seceding this time around. I certainly wouldn't even if it meant I had to relocate.

That is usually the first step towards becoming a state.

Perhaps you should try to get Saudi Arabia to join instead. Interestingly, the last time I checked 1/3 want statehood, 1/3 want independence, and 1/3 want things to stay just as they are.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is determined to attack Iran before the US elections,” Israel’s Channel 10 News claimed on Monday night, and Israel is now “closer than ever” to a strike designed to thwart Iran’s nuclear drive.

Bibi doesn't trust Obama but knows that Obama would have no choice but to fully support Israeli right before elections. If Obama wins a second term Bibi would be afraid that Israel might be left high and dry. Thats my thinking of their thinking.

I think Bibi might have something there.
