The Fifty First State

There's no historical grounds for this. Puerto Rico has higher priority, if they ever decide to join us.

I doubt that the USA would ever do more than endorse Israel's right to self-defense.
Check a list of MOUs between the countries: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/US-Israel/MOUs.html
Especially read the ones on security/defense. There is very little beyond counter-terrorism agreements.

EDIT: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/30/u...t-harder-line-toward-iran.html?pagewanted=all

Romney tries to distinguish himself politically from Obama by considering a joint strike against Iran's nuclear program.
Do you believe it?
I'll believe it if he says the same thing AFTER and IF he is elected to POTUS.

What purpose would there be to have a state that will be destroyed within 10 years?

If anything, Israel needs to be evacuated, and their citizens moved to the U.S. Then nuke the whole Middle East and declare it a hell-hole. That is the solution to creating peace in the middle east.
You almost forgot the most important part. But don't worry, I added it in for you. :)

It seems to get on just perfectly fine on its own as a hell hole without requiring us to come out and declare it as such :)

if the US really needs another state ... Liberia would seem the logical choice, the flag is better suited than the Hawaiian's and they seem to have guns everywhere ... they have the same set up with government and seem to reject UH and too much government spending on people welfare

Nothing can beat the US in creating hell holes. USA #1

:hmm: I would not like to visit this 'Libria' place. Sounds like Mali... sandwiched between Liberia and Libya... no, I'm sure it's just a coincidence :shifty:

How did we get bumped from our rightful place in the queue?

Sorry, but it's Puerto Rico first, then England, Scotland and Wales followed by Israel.

After that, if we haven't decided to finish the job of forcible annexation of Canada that we started in 1812, Australia might get a shot at statehood.

We also don't want Northern Ireland.

Puerto Rico is voting on statehood again this November. It's looking to be the closest vote yet (it gets closer and closer to statehood every time they vote). The Pro-US governor Puerto Rico also rigged the election options so their is no-status quo option IIRC. They either become a state or sever ties. I'll have to dig up some articles to check on this though.

If Mitt Romney gets elected, we'll make the Cayman Islands an honorary 51st state. :mischief:

I don't want this country getting any bigger. If anything, its time for it to get smaller and split. I'm tired of everything getting dictated from Washington...

So where would you like to relocate to? As a fellow resident of New York I'm well aware of the prevailing attitude towards government here: your views are extremely far from the norm.

So where would you go?

Or, perhaps a better question is, how would you like to see the States divided?

I'll answer peter's question.

I'm sure he'd like the states divided along the Mason-Dixon line. Guess which side he'd go to?

You know, because slavery wasn't all a bad thing.

The above said is not really a statement regarding Puerto Rico though. They actually are in our country.

That said, I don't think they want statehood, and I don't think we want their blue votes:p
Give them independence;)

Yeah I'm sure there are too many catholic brown folks down there for it to a be 'proper' state in your opinion.

But only honorary. Gotta keep its tax haven status after all.

What about Canada? Many video games, and other forms of media have always said Canada would be our 51st state. What's taking so long? Just do it already. I don't want to have to get a passport, just to go up there and see their beautiful national parks.

So, um, yeah, he didn't say that. But by all means, don't let facts impede you from continuing your rant. You're actually on a roll if you leave them out! :goodjob:

You know, because the Confederate battle flag doesn't really have squat to do with slavery, and everything to do with defending your home against foreign aggressors from the north.

Btw, for you to be consistent, you must think all those battleflags of the American Revolutionary War are all about slavery too, ya? Cuz slavery was legal back then. On wait, it was legal IN THE UNION during the civil war as well. Wow, forgot about that...

I think Twain was on to something. Maybe hobbs should be taking notes....

And the Union had to raze the lands of the traitors because they seceeded for the right to hold human beings as property. The Confederate Battle Flag has as much to do with slavery as the flag of the Soviet Union has to do with Marxism-Leninism.

Wars are started over the big issues. Wars are fought and bled for by men and women who often have little to do with those issues. But that's more annoying to contemplate on, since objectively "good" men dying in droves on both sides of a conflict doesn't lend itself to the concept of a "just" war.

I disagree with this. Many times individuals join a side for the values and ideals that fight embodies. The soldiery isn't always draftees, serfs, "made men", etc..

Yeah he did. Did you not read the same thread I read?

I'm watchin you NickJ:scan:, don't stop defending the trolls anytime soon. Actually he really did say slavery wasn't all that bad, but I think the particular context in question was about slavery in the bible. So I just distorted away, given the obsurdity of 99% of his posts.

Ugh, but Canada is just so big and empty....It'd take forever to take them over, because I don't think they would willingly join with the US. We tried to take it over once and it didn't go so hot!

I think it's pretty dumb you need a passport to visit Canada and Mexico. After 9/11 my father took us to Canada and they almost wouldn't let us back in the US because we didn't have our passports. Appartently the fact that he was a Major in the US Army didn't mean anything...

To be fair, it's mostly draftees, serfs and such doing the fighting.

Thank you. It's annoying as hell when people try and re-invent the history and causes of the Civil War. Which is something I'm pretty sure GhostWriter16 did in another thread as well.

Yeah he did.
Link?

Okay, so you're saying he said it's good because you decided that you wanted to take it out of context in that form. Well, at least your an honest troll. It's rare to come across that type.
