The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

I'm not sure how to take a screenshot on this laptop, but has anyone ever seen Byzantium get Military Tradition and build Basil's Cathedral, have late-gameish armies of monster proportions, maxed out cities, control of Italy, Marseille, Vienna, the Northwest Black Sea and Moscow, plus vassalization of France, HRE, and Poland, all by the 13th century? Seven wonders in the capital, and incredible cultural pressure from everywhere.

This was a 3000 BC game. I started as Rome, and tried to recreate the historical Empire. Sure, I played kingmaker in the east to make things more in line with the 600 AD scenario, but most of the real changes were in the west. It also could be the resource placements, but I've used them in other games and haven't ever seen a monster like this. Their stability actually flatlined for a while.

I can't get over it.

What kind of Laptop do you have? if it's a pc normally it'd be ctrl-printscreen or something right?

I have a mac but I use Parallels to run windows, so for me I can take a picture by command+shift+3.

I'll post a save when I'm feeling up to it.

Imagine what they'll do when they'll have nukes. If they don't collapse before.

Unsolved mystery: Persians. What happened to them?

It's the year 1820 AD and... Byzantium is still alive ! (although not looking well). They're also Zoroastrian
Notice the super Vikings who destroyed Russia completely with Polish help, their empire stretching from Scotland to the Ural. Portugal was annihilated by super Spain too.

Portugal always ends up Lisbon, settlers, Spaniards exile capital to Ponta Delgada, zip.

Yes, it happens regularly, but usually not until Portugal starts colonizing, and in this game they didn't.
Anyway the OMG is more about Byzantium than aything else.

The year is 1817: Byzantium, Stayin Alive! They have actually expanded since losing Constantinople, claiming parts of Central Europe.

Why not use the ingame printscreen funtion? Press printscreen in game and look for screenshots in /my documents/my games/civ4/screenshots folder(something like that).

I am using Printscreen. However, I have no idea where screanshots save to on my computer so I paste the screenshot into a jpg file.

Should be something like C:\Users\*username*\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\ScreenShots if you're not playing steam version. You can also search for file name like Civ4ScreenShot.

The Mongols were in a tight spot....

Meanwhile, the Winged Hussars were truly flying:

(I have to say, if the Polish AI had detected the oil and captured Oman on strategic grounds then it's the most intelligent thing I've ever seen it do).

The Americans very quickly found a way to destroy their own slave supply (or maybe founded a colony for freed slaves?!):

Russia wasn't having a good game at all:

But the Mongols just kept on conquering, well into the 19th century:
