The shogun strikes back!

Hi guys :),

haven't look at the save yet, but we seem doing nicely, nice set DE :).
We even start the Aztec conquest, which is quite good! :goodjob:
Shaka looks more and more unchecked... what to do? what to do? :D

Just a reminder:

Rolo -> up!
Sweetacshon -> on deck!

Shaka has closer neighbors he'll go after for the time being. We can (and should) continue our beating of Monty while teching towards a tech advantage. Since we're going towards machinery anyways, maybe we want to go the south route? It'll help pay for our growing empire as well. We can use GS for the liberalism path. Philo is gone so it's unlikely anybody else will tech it. And Shaka isn't likely to go after liberalism so I think we have a while for that.

I agree with this approach, with a detour by engeenering before guild though...
Unfortunately, settling the last GS has delayed the last part quite a lot :D (no DE, that's not a rant... just a comment :p)

Look, the guy's carrying 50% of our tech atm, would you want to miss out on that? (Running 0%, he equals the two ordinary scientists from GLib)

I simply couldn't grasp how bulbing a tech that unlocks PACIFISM would help us conquer the world, against settling him for a constant stream of bpt.

:lol: the strenght of philo is not PACIFISM (at least here) indeed, but that basically you can trade for any medieval tech with it ;)... But don't take offense... it was just a remark and I am pleased with the way you played it... we just need to capture the mids now :king:

Yep, settling the GS is good for the long term, of course.:) I can be a bit myopic playing civ (and other times :D) and would usually bulb, but whatever. Assuming the Aztec war goes ok, and no unexpected DoW, we should still be ok for lib. I'm also fine with the lower tree. We should trade for MC, and I don't have time for save checking (it's moving day :rolleyes:), but what are the chances of the AI having mach also? Feudalsim is also available. We should be able to get these without using CS.

In this case we really should have bulbed because there were enough trade opps (Feudalism, MC, Machinery) and those - especially machinery - were techs we needed. Thankfully this game is forgiving enough that missing out on the trades isn't a serious setback. Not unlike the first Toku or the Monty game (where philo was a real lifesaver ;) ).

Short resume ( as I'm already late for this ):

Shaka Dowed Ramesses. BtW he lost 2 cities so far ( not ramesses :p ). Both sides asked for help

In fact I'm more worried with Gilgamesh... he's been out of the mess in the west and he's teching quite strongly. I wonder that he may try to pull a culture win stunt.....

I'd say we are going along nicely here. Nobody really running away on us in tech, nobody becoming too big for his shoes.

Put granaries in the queues in the conquered Aztec lands, and build the FP there as well. Some of these cities have a lot of matured cottages (Ten even has an academy), we want that up ASAP.

Gil's not going to do anything over there. He only has 6 cities, his lands are not really pristine and will in the end run out of steam. It's not Gil I'm worried about... if anything I think the Burger King might be more of a problem.

Roster:

Rolo -> played
Sweetacshon -> up
Shyuhe -> out till Thursday (so likely a skip or a swap)
RRRaskolnikov -> on deck

Monty cities had granaries.... until he sabotaged 3 :(

I agree with focusing in HRE from now on.... he is our only neighbour after we finish Monty after all :D For now, I would make some castles and lbows for the border while we finish Monty and move against him. We're Pro after all: let's put those AI suiciding vs our defenses :D

Samurais can take out HRE's UU so I think we should kill Monty, then do some quick re-building/army raising and continue to war against HRE. Elephants + samura + siege should be more than enough to take out HRE.

It looks like we don't have much Buddhist spread around. So we can either bite the bullet and take the :mad: from defying stop the war votes (likely) or spread Buddhism around enough to get a blocking majority. Either option works but we should decide now before proceeding.

On second thought, we should aggressively spread Buddhism to avoid a repeat of last game. If we kill off Monty, then all remaining civs will be Buddhist and we will have to worry about the AP win. Alternatively, we could vassalize Monty and keep him from picking up Buddhism. Then we won't have to worry about losing to the AP again.

OK. I think I've got another plan which will work even better than this.

1. Build a fleet of galleys and triremes, load a ****load of trebs, samurai and ellies.
2. Sail to Thebes and DoW Ramesses.
3. BURN THE DAMN THING DOWN.

[/frustrationatapocalypsenow]

It's going to be Ramesses vs. Burger King, and Burger King will be losing cities. The potential problem is swing state Gil who might vote for Charle in case of election.

Either way, I do NOT want to see us vassalize Monty. He's a diplomatic PITA because he's going to be a heathen, he's going to be useless for teching, he's going to cause motherland unhappiness & culture problems in every Aztec city... I say no. He's going to screw up everything, as he always does.

@Shyuhe: you are right, grab the save as Sweetacshon doesn't seem to be around, he will play next then :)
