FFH - Some Orcs Are Bigger Than Others

I'll play tomorrow, also 15 turns to keep the game going.
I, however, also encourage everyone to download patch p. If we have Sheaim or Doviello in the game, the unpatched flaw can have a serious effect.

Played 20 turns, since FFH early game is slow anyway.

The lands of the Kuriorates didn't seem to be very rich. Yet they were near to Jonas' lands, and their boy-king wore a gold mantle that testified to the hidden riches of the Kuriorate kingdom. All that was enough to make Jonas green - well, even greener then he was - with envy and greed. He was already making plans of conquering the Kuriorates.

Uzz'bordig, the Commander of the Clain Scorpion Archers Platoon, couldn't resist the seemingly-so-near plunder of Malakim capital. Yet it turned out to be better defended then he thought. And these Malakim self-righteous scum even dared to perform jigs on the Golden Leane walls, teasing the Orcs. At least, the Archers managed to pillage some farms. Surprisingly they didn't add any gold to the Orc treasury.

Jonas decided that his realm really needs some "civilized" (gosh, how he hated that world) improvements. So he ordered his underlings to train Workers in the only Orc city.

Note: We're taking too long on Animal Husbandry, we really need to start working these two tiles that produce commerce in our BFC. After pillaging Varn's farm and road, I offered peace, which he accepted.

Lurker comment

Please have mercy on FFH-noobs like me and turn on resource bubbles for screenshots :) Great write-ups so far :) And thanks for all the links :)

I could give it a whirl if you like.

Getting worker out soonish would allow us to improve wheat earlier. Maybe think about researching calendar while getting a settler out for the sub-arctic cotton plantations.

Is it realistic to go for warrens and warrior rush?

Do we search barrows/dungeons as we find them or leave them alone?

I think most players avoid dungeons and the like early unless they have some forces in the area. They can pop game-enders if you only have a few warriors.

How about Ancient Chants and Myst, then into some religion? OO/Kilmorph? We can use those units to attack our first neighbor. Calendar without Festivals doesn't do much for us I think, and then we still don't have much for research.

Agree with this.

We should do something with our pitiful commerce output. Actually, Festivals sounds like a good idea.

Barbarian trait players can't pop dungeons anyway.

Orc Trek! Our mission: to travel strange lands, meet new civilisations, to boldly go where no goblin has gone before.

Our northern explorer earned his name by slaying a wolf and a lion: Katzndogz. He perished beneath the fangs of a wolf pack but added to our knowledge of the northern lands:

Bearhugger's mission is to explore the far south west. He lives on though badly mauled by a griffon:

Griffonslayer has been adventuring to the south and survives to continue her adventures:

A nameless orc explored the island to the south east. She died before earning a name by slaying an enemy:

What of Braduk the Burning? The Hearthstone of our Clan ( we're a barbarian clan not some namby pamby milk sop 'civilisation')? We rounded up our dimmest goblins (who didn't even know which end of a club to hold) and conscripted them into a labour battalion. The 'workers' as they are contemptuously named have been sent south to turn wheat into fields (some daft idea called agriculture iirc). Our bigger and brighter orcs (who do know how to hold a club properly) are being formed up into a warrior band.

Our sages (I never trust a smartass myself) are still trying to work out what to do with a herd of cows. Milk them? Eat them? Something else not suitable for a family friendly forum?

Something did happen to break the tedium:

Gimme the gold.

Animal Husbandry was 24 once, but is now 37. We should really keep the commerce tiles going!

Screenshots weren't chronological. 37 turns at T40, 24 turns at T50.

Ah, yeah, got it, pardon me.

So, who's next?

Edit: Apparently, Thrar, according to the roster.

I'll need to re-do my FfH installation first, I didn't find a way to uninstall improved naval AI individually. If Immy or anyone else can grab it, go ahead.

It was a time of neither good fortune or bad tidings for the orcs.

More potential victims were found.

The secrets of harnessing the wild beasts were discovered.

A potential snack was found for our hungry explorer.

I'm currently building a settler for the cotton site and researching Calendar so we can get some commerce going. No beakers invested, could also go Ancient Chants/Mysticism or Crafting/Mining.

Think we should kill Sabathiel's worker and pillage his tiles.

Who wants up?

Got it, I'm up according to the formal roster anyway.

Nice guys get their workers stolen. I'd rather escort the worker back than muck around with pillaging. Calendar next looks good for cotton picking.
