Does anybody feel that the news media (especially the 24-hour news channels) tend to desensitivie to violence more than video games? I mean they keep plastering all over the freaking place about some school shooting or another until you get sick of hearing about it and then stop caring altogether wen another one happens.

"If it bleeds, it leads". That's the old motto of the news. They use sensationalism to get viewers. Nothing is more sensational than violence and tragedy.

Which is made tricky by my mother, who always has those stupid channels on and is calling me down every 30 minutes. "THIS IS TERRIBLE!" and I think "no, it's reality."

Moderator Action: I hid some posts. They might come back after we have a moderator consensus, but for now, consider the subject a taboo.

Sometimes it comes back and sometimes it doesn't

Eventually as you get older, your brain physically stops being able to feel pleasure from "new" music, and you freeze into enjoying whatever time period you grew up in.

The main reason why "classic" music stations were invented really.

I am constantly trying to enjoy every music ever invented for just this reason. Race against the clock >_>

Even the future trends of music like that digital crap the Black Eyed Peas do. Trying to future proof myself.

If all else fails, dance and sing the song like the person in the music video of the song you broke. Sometimes that knocks something loose and you can enjoy it again.

Odd article. I can't say I really agree on the music part but maybe I'm weird. I constantly get bored with my music if I over listen to it. Not that keeping your car tuned into pop is really socially acceptable forever. People look at you weird when you are letting the wind blow through your beard and hair with the window down on your bizitchin' Plymouth Neon while blasting the Harmlem Shake, or Call Me Maybe, or whatever is on atm.

Would probably get you on some crime list somewhere.

That's pretty normal I think, I'm 15 and I too just don't feel a song after I've listened to it for long enough

Are Australians and/or Australian society more right-wing conservative, or less right-wing conservative, than Americans and/or American society?

What is "concentrated cannabis"? Is it just another term for hash?

I saw the term in a news article and I have no idea what they're talking about.

Wouldn't that be pot in like pill form or made into juice for consumption in a vaporizer like an electronic cigarette?

Could it just refer to Cannabis which is more potent?
I've read that the cannabis smoked today, mostly, is more powerful then the cannabis of the 1960s - for instance. Maybe this news article is recognising that distinction? If you've ever smoked it; you'll know some strains will get you higher then others or if you smoke the bud not the stems and crap

Definitely less, but more than a lot of Europe. That's assuming we don't want to get bogged down in definitions and nuance etc. By the standard I believe you are applying, it's a clear "less"

Well, unless you are talking about video games, I think.

Why's that, ace?

I, of course, have no idea what I'm talking about. But that doesn't mean I haven't heard others talk.

I have a very specific image of you in my head. You have the physical appearance of Sir Frank from Yes Prime Minister and you have the lifestyle and personality of Bertie Wooster or Bingo Little.

Oh.

Ok.

Fine.

Spoiler :
But quite wide of the mark on both counts.

Spoiler :
At least, I think, and hope, so.

Rupert Psmith, now. And I'd be in full agreement. But sadly I'd be lying.
