Yeah, I find it easier too. Having spent decades getting up at every hour of the day or night to go to work. It is just easier. And unambiguous.

And I'd be happier if the entire world stuck to GMT the whole time. I don't get why people just can't get up at different times. But instead have to cycle their days by some arbitrary time like 07:00, to get up by.

Is this what passes for British imperialism nowadays? :mischief:

That has more to do with sunrises and sunsets than anything else.

Personally I have trouble with 24-hour clocks because I keep unintentionally subtracting 10 instead of 12 and ending up with the wrong time.

Am I the only one who finds it hard to come up with names?

I'm told it's easy, but I've spent all day trying to come up with a name for a character and I still have no ideas.

Lavern!

Calm down! Suggest asking the manufacturer, since it seems to be a sufficiently idiosyncratic request that Google will not provide for it.

You're definitely not the only one, I have the same problem.
Normally I then just ask google for a name list of that cultural area, and pick something random which fits my taste.

I recently got World of Warcraft, and I'm looking for a name for a Worgen character. Reading the material that came with a name said there was a name generator, but I couldn't find one in the game. I then looked for a list of Worgen NPCs to get some ideas of their name stucture, and they all seemed to be the long Victorian style names, which don't fit into the name box. After that I looked for Welsh names, as I wanted the character to be a druid, but they all seem too Elvish.

Good grief, no! Down with the British imperialist running dogs.

No. Pick any damn time you please. But just one would do me very nicely, if I must have even one.

Easy for you to stay, you live in the GMT don't you? (London). It would be confusing as hell for me. I think I'm GMT -9. If they change GMT to Pacific time zone then yes I agree with you.

Imagine talking to people on the internet.
"Hey so what time is it where you are?"
"07:43"
"Oh so your just waking up?"
"No, i've been up since 03:23"
"Wow why have you been up so early?"
"I havent, the sun rose around 01:00"
"Oh your not from here?"
"No Im from........."

Except everyone would have the same time, so that conversation wouldn't happen.

Premise remains ridiculous, though, because similar situations would happen.

Is it possible to "tolerate" something which is not bad, but good or neutral?

Recently professor Jerzy Bralczyk - member of the Polish Language Council:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Language_Council

Said in TVN television (during a discussion about civil partnership):

"(...) How could someone even say that homosexuals should be tolerated?! It is unacceptable to say such things. Tolerance is something which can be applied to negative phenomenons - we can tolerate bad things. And homosexuality is good. So we cannot tolerate homosexuals - we must adore them. (...)"

I'm not sure homosexuality is "good" anymore than heterosexuality is "good."

But, yes, I think you're generally correct: tolerance is only needed for something seen as undesirable - or just plain different - in some way, by some people.

It's a bit difficult to see though. Because once you do "tolerate" something, it's not really seen as negative any longer?

Is lactose evil? A lot of people tolerate it, even though a majority lose that ability once they grow up.

There's a limit on how much an adult can digest, isn't there?

It is a very strange substance for any adult animal to consume. All things considered.
