If only that wood currently being used to dry tobacco would be used in heating saunas the world would be exponentially better place. Not that burning wood in lower temperatures is that good for public health either
There's a lot of particulate contamination from burning wood, so maybe saunas could be made to depend on electric heaters. The wood is, as I understand, more necessary for hitting people with. I watched all five hours of Tuntematon sotilas and learned a lot, including that.
That's a good start but those are still 2nd & 3rd grade replicas at best. For convenience electric & for style & ambience wood burning - preferably both. Electric ones are most often much easier & cheaper to build afterwards.
Vihta https://www.heaters4saunas.com/what-is-a-sauna-whisk-vihta-ezp-79.html is an optional extra or even a luxury option these days. I only use them few times a year anymore - once or few times around midsummer & a couple of times between christmas & new year depending on how many I have bothered to freeze in the summer.
Bet it has to do with what they're fried in. I'd try both of those. Lamb and mint, eh? Haven't had fresh mint in a while. Might have to think about actually trying to cook a real Friday dinner when Lent ends.
Yeah, it totally is a thing in the UK. The funny thing is that it used to be that all the animal-flavored crisps were vegan, and the only one that had animal products in was cheese and onion, becuase they used real cheese that had animal derived rennet. It is probably all GM now though.
