Maybe next year. I'm curious: How much interest is there for an OT-specific opt-in thread, as a place to organize these things - avatar switch, send something-or-other around the world, or whatever other opt-in things we used to do? I have a few ideas...

Once upon a time there was a social group for this, but the social groups all got deleted when the migration to XenForo happened.

The Emperor of Byzantium is pretty imperial.

However, cats were worshipped in Egypt, my avatar is a representation of the goddess Bastet, so I think I outrank Kyriakos in this respect.

Kyriakos explained years ago that he's some sort of reincarnation of Emperor Whatsisname (sorry, I don't recall which one). He's used that avatar for so many years that it seems really odd when he changes to a different one.

It's like what happened over at TrekBBS, when that forum migrated from vBulletin to XenForo. We'd been able to have animated avatars with vBulletin, but not XenForo - so I had to trade in my tractor beam smiley avatar for a non-animated one. As someone said to me, they were so used to my tractor beam smiley avatar that with the new one, "You don't look like yourself anymore."

I've never done cat avatars on that forum, and people would think it odd if I started.
