I didn't really post with them, but I do have very fond memories of lurking through their posts.

Don't get me wrong - some of the new posters a re great, but the place has become somewhat less serious, more focused on personal issues and less on political and military ones. TBH, I may soon pass into the occasional poster category, but I don't see myself disappearing from OT any time soon.

I suspect Winner would return if some big geopolitical issue appeared

As Civ5 becomes more popular and popular, new posters will come over.

Posters also change. Some new posters shape up and post more interesting stuff after a while. Some old posters who were once very interesting seem to have tired and only post pointless one-liners nowadays.

There are probably lots of good recruits in the game and modding subforums. Moderators should move more of their threads into the OT pit.

I miss Ecofarm. He was a special right-winger, in not only his qualities, but the fact I wouldn't facepalm whenever he posted.

I miss BasketCase as well. The right-wing caucus has shrunk, and I've been forced to take up some of the burden against left-wing hordes... (though of course, I do occasionally side with the enemy on social issues, but that's beside the point).

Looking at all the other posts in this thread... dang. A lot of people have evaporated into thin air, haven't they?
