And if people are unable to communicate in a civil way now, what happens when military action starts, as it looks like it will?
Funny, what I do not see is anyone here who actually supports 'Taliban values' - - no freedom of speech, no rights for women, no freedom of religion. What I do see is some posters wanting to limit the self defense options of a country that has just lost 7,000 civilians due to a terror attack on our own soil. The only reasons seems to be a dislike (perhaps hatred) of "American flag waving."
So far, everything the US and our allies have done has been within the limits of civilized behavior - sure, troops are being moved, but if an attack comes, this will be no surprise attack. the US and allies are even providing food and other aid to Afghan refugees - some who could actually be terrorists. The terrorist sympathizers, however, continue to destroy property (US embassies) and threaten US citizens, "Jews" (a pretty wide definition here -not just Isreali citizens, but all Jews) and other Westerners in their country - Indonesia is a good example.
So what has the US *actually done* to get people so upset?? (I am talking about this response, not CIA supported coups in the 60's or 70's - good point, but people were not pissing about it on September 10th). Is the simple unity of US citizens, and a recognition of the actual diplomatic and military power of the US as it is currently being exercised, that much of a threat?
I understand many people are scared of, or oppose, violent conflict. However, just because the US is the type of country where people actually have acces to the Internet, and these boards, while Islamic terror states restrict that type of access, does not make it fair - or mature - to take pot-shots at the US posters on this board.
It was perhaps unfair for me to suggest an age restricted board - perhaps it should be persons of any age who can be civil and mature - persons of any age who act like the "stereotypical" 14-year-old should post on the kiddie board.
