Bonus points when they complain about roving like gangs destroying all decency on the forum. The projection is fierce sometimes.

I was never a Trump supporter by any stretch but I did wish him good luck when he took office and was hopeful that with the campaign behind us that he'd tone down the crazy a bit. I even defended him when he installed his daughter and son-in-law in various positions as I wanted his team to be successful! I saw rooting for him to fail as wishing pain and hurt on a lot of people so I didn't feel that way myself. Unfortunately he's proven to live up to my absolute worst fears. I cannot think of ways for him to mess up much worse than he already has.
What projection? What did you read into that post that would lead you to believe it was a polarizing comment, unless of course, you identify with the extremists...

Cloud has made it abundantly clear that anyone not as far to the left as the Democratic Party might as well be a fascist Nazi, homophobic, transphobe, and rape apologist misogynist.

Rah has simply said that he hasn’t voted Republican in a long time (and even if he did so what) but he may as well be everything Cloud is accusing him of just because his political views are not 100% identical with hers.

Either you are far to the left or you are bigoted in every way, according to Cloud.

I repeat:

key word in this context: when

See, this is why I'll always debate with folks like rah. I may disagree with him every which way on a particular topic, but he's direct with his opinions and gets visibly frustrated (as I, and others do) when communicating. This is just a massive strawman, and a really poor one at that.

An unfortunately common occurrence from the louder parts of the left on the internet these days. On the balance, I'd consider myself more "liberal" or left-leaning than right, in terms of things like healthcare and welfare -- yet because I have a few opinions that lean more rightward, I'm painted as an irredeemable alt-right Nazi shitlord. It's exhausting, and only makes me less eager to vote for the people those doing the accusations support.

"I was going to respect women and minorities, but somebody on the internet called me a chode so now I love swastikas."

if the moderates on both the left and right are encouraged to abandon 'their side' only the extremists will define the parties, thats why gerrymandering 'safe seats' polarizes the country

I don't know what's less credible assumption, that there are "extremist" Democrats, or that the hardliners in the Republican Party are some sort of marginal fringe.

In zerker's defense he considers me an extremist democrat for wanting to put his kids through college without debt and want to allow them to recover from a car wreck without declaring bankruptcy.

You Stalinist, you!

This sentiment and attitude of @Cloud_Strife's sounds remarkably and uncannily like Joseph McCarthy, but he was doing it from the right-wing perspective. Still, the attitude and mentality are remarkably similar.

You Stalinist, you!

Interesting hypothetical came up the other day at my work (should be noted I work at a hospital).

It's snowing and a car goes speeding by you (think 55 mph (reg speed limit) vs reserved 40mph (cause its snowing)). You keep driving along and you see its in a ditch next to the road. Do you stop and help? I answered yes of course because just because they were driving foolishly does not mean they should be left to die. I was called a liberal for taking that position. Lol and these are healthcare workers. To be clear I am like one out of a dozen in this story, so it was easy to pick on me that way. Still it was telling about how each side sees the world and justice.

In today's environment a similar question might be: If you see a car broken down along the highway and it has a Trump (or Clinton) bumper sticker, would you stop and help?

Well you have to make it life threatening for me to stop at all, what does that say for me? lol.

I would not stop for either sticker, I'm busy that's what triple A is for!

When did Cloud get elected to the US Senate

What if it was a young mother with a small child? :p

That might jack it up a notch. In my defense if it is stuck in a ditch I would no matter the sticker on the back. I know CPR and consider it a civil duty. Changing tires not so much although if I had the time. . .
