What is Your Favorite Vegetable???

Man, how can you all choose? Zucchini, okra, potato, corn, kohlrabi, beans... I could never pick a single fav veggie.

Mmmmmm. Fried or pickled Okra....another great one. I used to have that all the time in Arkansas, but never up here in Washington State. :(

I've never heard of this before now (I just wiki'ed it)! Is it tasty? How do you prepare it?

EDIT: This thread is probably a good place to brag about my garden putting out! The corn ears will be ready soon. There's nothing like a steamed ear of Silver Queen fresh off the stalk.

EDIT to the EDIT:

Oh, and baked spaghetti squash, how could I forget that?!

Collard greens

To be honest, I haven't had it since my grandparents passed away since they always grew it in their garden. I really need to start a garden. Wish I could describe the taste to you, but it's kind of a unique veggie. I would eat them raw, and grandma would also make some sort of casserole dish with them (she also made a wicked zucchini casserole.)

Ah, one that nobody has seemed to mention yet (and stupid me forgot).
The cucumber!

EDIT - Fun fact: China is the leading producer of the cucumber...Further proof they're taking over the world.

I'll have to google it, then. It sounds tasty.

So what is the CFC community's opinion of capers? I discovered them last year, and I think they're wonderful.

Carrots ftw!

Asparagus is also delicious.

I lurve potatoeeeees. My girl makes this awesome Indian potato dip thing that you use what looks like a burrito wrap, rip a bit of it and pinch some potato out.

I am a big fan of capers, primarily because they go so well with smoked salmon.

My favorite vegetable before the turnip was collards. There is just something about that earthy taste, and with a little viniger...

Chinese cabbage. Stick them in a soup or a stew. Any green, leafy vegetable, really.

Do you like marrow? It makes an excellent veg curry (and I don't really like marrow served in any other way!)

holy crap, kohlrabi's kohlrabi in english?

as for me, I'm not a big vegetable eater but I do love steamed cauliflower on a sauce béchamel :yummy: (not the most healthy way to have them but the most tasty :p )

asparagus and potatos deserve mention too, especially the latter for sheer versatility: gratin, mashed, boiled...they all are tasty

That's why English will win the language wars! We steal whatever the hell we want and make it our own :D

P.S. - Kudos for being familiar with kohlrabi! :goodjob: Do you like it?

 probably

it's quite common here. I hated it as a kid, nowadays I'm indifferent towards it, with a good sauce béchamel it becomes decent :p

Broccoli, chard & garlic (right now, my tastes evolve over time).

Tomatoes & cukes are good but they're fruits.
