What Video Games have you been playing II: Have you finished that backlog?

I did all the missions in GTA 1 and 2 and they were pretty much the same: drive to a place, kill a guy, get a tank, whatever. That was cool. I don't like the 3D GTAs though - they're too slow and "realistic". I guess I preferred the dicking around.
You should play Saints Row.

Don't oppress me CIS scum
Your Republic is about to fall, CountDooku shall lead us to glory!
I may be showing my age here but isn't GTA all about stealing a tank and seeing how many police cars you can shoot before the army barricades waste you? What's so difficult about that?
There's a mission in Vice City in which you have to steal a tank piece of military hardware from an armed convoy and then deliver it to a criminal entrepreneur.
There's an actual story/campaign in the game. It's not all just dicking around.
And you can always just run races or do the vehicle missions.

The GTA III series is the perfect blend. Still cartoony enough but with a real story and still enough of GTA I/II/London.
Did the same thing on the basis of this comment. Same reaction!
Hmmm, I should heed the great head.

Did I spend my hour-long play session doing nothing but take a walk in Oblivion and take pretty pictures? Yes. Yes I did.

 I really miss that, I remember I upgrading my vga card just to be able to play Oblivion, when the first time I play it it really really amaze me, the graphic is beyond my imagine at that time. Morrowind is a really good game, but sometime it is so tiring and depressive, but Oblivion, is really a candy for the eyes.

OOTP 15. Best baseball simulator around still and, other than some annoyingly long loading screens, the game is better than 14 by way of a totally redone UI.

Also been playing The Elder Scrolls Online. I like it, even with all its warts, like a dull story, mediocre questing, and PvP that switches between "awesome" and "total slog." The leveling system is fantastic. It looks and sounds great. But it still hasn't sold me on subbing, and I don't think it will.

I really really wish there was something similar for basketball. I want nothing more than to be an armchair GM.

EDIT: It looks interesting from the website. Would you recommend it to someone who has only a mild interest in baseball?

EDIT2: Nevermind, saw the $40 pricetag.

I'd love one for basketball too.

Once the regular season is over, OOTP goes 50% off. Obviously, you'd be playing with a game for the season that just happened, but if that's ok it's worth it. Also, Steam usually puts OOTP on sale a couple times during the year, usually in summer and holiday sales, so keep an eye out on that.

Edit: And yeah, I'd recommend it. There are plenty of video guides out there, and it's awesome fun. OOTP and Football Manager are basically the best simulation sports games.

So I recently decided to play EU3. As Byzantium, on 1405 start where they get some territories in Greece.

Some 15 years later, and ta-daa, all the ex-Byzantium lands are reunited (except for that Crimean territory up there controlled by Genoa, but I find it's border with Golden Horde more trouble than it's worth). Or, at least the ones with Byzantium cores

My current problem is, that I have no idea what to do now. Westernisation is an obvious long-time target, but besides that, I dunno what should do now. Current alternatives are going either into North Africa directly or, slowly expand into Levant and into the Holy Lands.

EDIT: ding-ding-ding, you're a winner! 777th post.

Finished Deus Ex by carrying out the JC-Helios merger deal. Took 59 hours, quite a while. Playing some Little Inferno as a palate cleanser. Burning stuff is pretty fun, and I can see myself going back to it just to mess around like with Scribblenauts.

Dark Souls II! I'm really glad I got it for PC. The graphics are just so much better... Unfortunately, there's a bug in it where the game crashes at start-up if your main monitor is connected via HDMI. Hopefully they will patch it soon so I can play it on my TV instead. EDIT: Patch released, bug fixed!! YAY!

I heard the control is hard to manage on pc, and looking at the gameplay this game is insanely hard.

I use an Xbox 360 controller. It really was designed for a control pad and not kb/mouse.

As for gameplay difficulty, I died on the bloody tutorial. I also died maybe 30 times on the boss, and another 40 or so times on the first level leading up to the boss. You die a lot.

Die in tutorial? that definitely not a good sign  I imagine how many hours waste into the depression. If me, I better hit the 2d castlevania.

Today in TES IV: Oblivion I did the following:

- Ran around in meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Took screenshots while running around in meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Walked around meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Took screenshots while walking around in meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Stood around in meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Took screenshots while standing in meadows and flower fields doing nothing
- Fought mudcrabs

I.e., did nothing.

And I love it.

Actually I've bee pretty much doing that for this past week. The past ocuple of days I've been running near Anvil. Some parts of it looks Mediterrean-y, other parts kind of look like the Great Plains. But all look pretty.

Picked up the first Dark Souls. Actually, a special edition aptly named 'Prepare to die'.

Just to think I thought the Witcher 2 was hard for dying in the prologue sequences: At least I completed this game. Doubtful if I ever will complete Dark Souls!

The scenery in Oblivion may be very generic, but I always loved Cheydinhal and Anvil especially. I was particularly impressed that each city looked and felt so different.

That's what a Daedroth night on the tiles does to a place. :)

Aaaaannd... Glarthir's corpse is still lying around on the streets of Skingrad.

That was something I didn't notice at first, as I was too into the "Oblivion looks generic" mindset. I then realized that, for me, while it may indeed be generic it's probably done a better job at giving me an impression of pseudo-medieval fantasy than anything I've come across.
