What Video Games have you been playing II: Have you finished that backlog?

I finally finished AC IV last night. Ubisoft did a damn beautiful job with that game, and cannot wait until the impending French Revolution and 19th century Russia ones. Watch Dogs is their newest title which came out a few days ago. It's not as beautiful as AC IV, and I don't like the casual "comedic" (!?!?) racism/prejudice that occurs in the game regarding minorites and women. Besides those two points I just made, it's a very original title that is worth at least a playthrough.

I've been playing Watchdogs for the last week, and if I hadn't spent 60 bucks on it, I might have broken it by now. It hasn't been a particularly fun experience so far, and I keep waiting for that to change

I've been tempted by the last two Assassin's Creed games from what I read about them, and the piratey naval combat aspects. Would I be alright just jumping in with 3 or 4 as I never played the earlier games? I briefly played the first game when my friend first got a 360 and found it quite tedious and was never interested after that.

I loved Dead Money and I really was not expecting to. I was a sucker for the story's twists and turns and the "stealth" didn't annoy too terribly.

hope You got repair skill high - actualy "DEAD MONEY" DLC is pretty hard !!!!!!!! Im a playar (experienced) but DEAD MONEY is pretty hard ! WoW !!!! Probably the best DLC from Fallout : New Vegas. ;)

It becomes surprisingly easy with 75+ Unarmed skill and the Bear Trap Fist. Ghost people die instantly if a limb is crippled, and both the Bear Trap Fist and the Cross attack in V.A.T.S. deal extra limb damage. I was routinely killing them with a punch or two this way.

You can also do Lonesome Road first, get Rawr's Talon, and keep it. Since it's a quest item, you keep it even after losing everything else when you start Dead Money. Then find the nearest workbench and craft it into the Fist of Rawr if you have 75+ Unarmed skill. It does extra limb damage and more and better crit hits.

I've never played them but people generally didn't like 3 that much. 4 is/was pretty popular, though.

"The fist of Rawhrrrrrr!!" !!!! ^^ I like the idea !!! - especially if it is unique pneumatic fist !!

It's a deathclaw gauntlet. Looks completely ridiculous but it works.

I like 3. I don't care much that the protagonist speaks in a monotone voice (I'm actually more impressed by all the Mohawk being spoken) and as long as an AC game allows you to go around doing whatever I'm fine with it.

AC: Brotherhood was the best of Ezio's run. I really wasn't a fan of AC3.

That's my secret, I always have a high repair skill.

I've been playing Brutal Doom a lot the past couple days. Sometimes you just need to stop thinking and engage in some mindless violence, that's where Brutal Doom comes in.

Yay for mindless violence!

(And I'm saying that as a nominal Buddhist, mind you!)

So, you have that in common with most Western adherents of Buddhism, eh? :)

Sniper Elite V2 is free on Steam for today only (until 1pm EDT or something, I don't understand American times. Google it.).

We all make mistakes, it's ok.

I finally installed Civ5.
Stopped after the first minute to play Civ4 instead.

It's actually pretty good with Brave New World if you can get past all the changes. I want my sliders back, but I also can't really go back to Civ 4 because I miss policies, more frequent golden ages, city states, limited resources, hexes and 1upt.

Eastern adherents too, I'd assume. It's mostly the older, more conservative types that would get up in arms about it, though even then it'd vary. My mother would go berserk if she knew the types of games I play (and mind you, my taste in mindless violence is pretty tame compared to many others), while my father would probably just be "eh don't overdo it/Whatever just get a job". He was into arcade games in college, right before video games became a thing, so that probably helped.

I do know a high ranking but somewhat young Tibetan monk (I forgot who, but he is very close to the Dalai Lama in terms of importance and influence) has said that he thinks video games - including violent ones - are an acceptable way to relieve stress, Buddhism's supposed to be about not doing extremes and all that or something.

If you ask me, Gods & Kings was what Civ V vanilla should have been. Early vanilla was a broken mess. G&K fixed a LOT of issues with it, and the fall patch there pretty much made the hardest iteration of Civ V yet. A lot of that got rolled back with BNW, and even though BNW's fall patch brought some of it back it's still not the challenge it was in G&K and they've kinda left a lot of broken stuff hanging by moving on to Civ:BE. It's still a lot of fun, though.
